re: Why are y’all crying about Clemson “reporting” it?

The most logical, simplest answer, is that LSU/Haulcey did know there was a distinct possibility that he was suspended, and planned to see if they could skate. Now they’ve been caught and they’re playing fast and loose with when they discovered the issue.
In this scenario, they’ve had a contingency plan in place the whole time, and nobody is caught unaware other than the public and media.
The current “official” timeline suggests a pretty wild level of incompetence on LSU’s side, and some bad conduct on Houston’s.

If the roles were reversed, everyone here would be saying BK is playing 4D chess and a ruthless genius. This is why every other fanbase thinks LSU fans are whiny pussies.
It's not that it got reported. It's sitting on it and waiting until 48 hours pre-game that is weak from Dabo and Clemson.

This falls on Kelly and his personnel department for this to “surprise” them days before the game.
What are you even talking about? It's not like LSU/BK were CC'd on the message from the Big 12 to Houston.

They should be in constant communication with the NCAA about the eligibility of all players in all sports, much less the new players. Now, they may have done that and the NCAA fricked us. That is always possible.
With how much nonsense has come from the NCAA you really wanna contact them more than you are absolutely required to?

Same goes for you. Players don’t get ejected from games for taunting , ie Unsportsmanlike conduct. It’s simply a 15 yard penalty.
They do, however, get ejected for fighting, ie unsportsmanlike conduct. The fact that Haulcey was ejected tells everyone that he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct - fighting.
Any unsportsmanlike conduct penalty can carry an ejection if deemed flagrant by the officials. Some (such as contacting an official) carry automatic ejections.
None of those ejections carry over to the first half of the next game except fighting, which isn’t even part of the “unsportsmanlike conduct” section of the rule book and appears to be an entirely separate penalty.
quote:
The official scorer is not required to enter fighting. They are only required to enter unsportsmanlike conduct in the official game log.
The NCAA themselves said that the Big 12 reviewed the call and clarified it to be an ejection for fighting after the game had ended, in a letter sent to the Houston staff.

That is the entire role of the LSU Compliance department. It's literally exactly what they are paid to do.

I guarantee you they knew he was ejected. The fact the suspension wasn’t in his paperwork and AJ says he didn’t know about it means LSU assumed it was just the ejection and they were trying to keep it that way. Why would they bring attention to something that could result in a suspension if they believed he wasn’t suspended? That would be dumb.
If you run a red light you aren’t going to pull over, call the cops and tell them to come write you a ticket. You’re going to keep driving and hope no cops saw you.
What people are saying is LSU should have reached out to inquire about a suspension, which could have resulted in a review of the situation and ended up getting a suspension. Again, that would have been stupid.
ETA: Now it’s on to plan B, which every decent staff has a plan B, C and D for each position.
People acting like LSU was completely blindsided and has no plan is being ridiculous. This is no different than him getting injured in practice leading up to the game.

Okay, and? My point remains. You talk to the NCAA the least amount necessary. With the amount of BS rulings and general stupidity/lack of consistency with the NCAA, idk why anyone would want to deal with them more than absolutely required.
Not that this matters anyway because even Sankey and the SEC didn't know about this. One of the two most powerful conferences in collegiate athletics didn't even know.

Incorrect, he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct (no suspension), which AFTER the game was over, was later revised by the NCAA to fighting (carries suspension).
This is not hard. Thr basis did the unsportsmanlike conduct was fighting. He threw punches. Multiple punches. He ran through an official to throw more punches after being separated. This led to a brawl at the end of the game.
As Hanny and Ott and the third guy on tbr show all said - every college coach knows the rule. Punches thrown. You are out. It was missed. It’s okay to admit the LsU staff messed up and made a mistake. Really, it’s ok. There’s really no reason to blame everyone else but LSU.

So why didn't the SEC know either?

That’s exactly what I think they did. The only issue I have with any of this is if Houston really didn’t tell Haulcy he was going to be suspended.
That’s pretty shitty.

Because eligibility and NCAA infractions depend on their clarification. That's why you have a compliance department in the first place.
The fact that Lassiter sat out and served a suspension in the first half of the Alama bowl should at the very least, made LSU aware of the possibility of a suspension and should have required reaching out to Houston. Not doing so is exactly the point and exactly why you ask. You don't assume you know, you find out.

That's just not correct. He was ejected for fighting which carries a suspension.
No he wasn’t you Dumbass, he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, which does not carry a suspension. It wasn’t changed until later by the conference, communicated to Houston.

LSU knew it was possible, which is exactly why they didn’t ask for clarification. They were hoping it hadn’t been levied. Why would they want to bring attention to it?
