if they move the home game to thanksgiving i would probably miss it every time. i spend all fri night prepping and shopping for tailgate. i'm out the door at 6 am on saturday and returning late sat night. i am usually recovering on sunday. i have a very understanding wife and a 4 and 2 yr old but would probably be in a bit of trouble if i asked to skip thanksgiving in order to attend an away or home game.

Dude believe me, I completely understand what you have going on and appreciate a family man. I guess I am lucky as my wife is just as big of an LSU fan as I am, so she would always come to a game with a smile on her face regardless of what day it's on.

If for some reason, we couldn't celebrate on Thursday with a big meal, I also know that the family members that I celebrate Thanksgiving with wouldn't mind having our big family meal on Friday instead of Thursday. We are pretty laid back and enjoy spending time together regardless of whether it is at home or a stadium or on Thursday or Friday.

mine is that LSU football is not just the 3-4 hrs when the tigers are on the field. at least for home games that is.

I see where you're come from for sure.

Also, did any LSU fan really like playing Arky as the last game of the year?

I may be the only one but I liked it. I am also a fan from the 80's so I fully understand the am rivalry and grew to really hate those cork suckers. The thing ended badly, am is a bunch of bitches and always will be.

I will never want to give them anything that they want and that drives my feelings on this. I feel like they are least getting part of what they wanted and as much as I hate am I don't even want them to get any of what they want.

But yet you know that its the opposite?

No, not one single time have I mentioned anything about what the "majority" of the fan base thinks. I have said that there will be plenty of people that travel to this game @ A&M next Thanksgiving.

yes don't you have a family? News flash, not everyone that is an LSU fan is married to another LSU fan and has inlaws that are just as big of fans of CFB as you. Some many have inlaws not from the south that don't give a flying frick about CFB and sister in laws with young girls that also don't want to watch football.

So wait, the guys don't sit around and watch football at all on Thanksgiving? I would think THAT is far more unusual than anything else.

I'm not opposed to playing on Thanksgiving, even at home. I'd welcome a thanksgiving home game because it would be at night. I could do family stuff on Friday or Saturday.

What I'm pissed about is that no one in the SEC gives a shite about LSU's traditions. We've had 2 home SEC night games in the last 3 years, and it won't be anymore than 3 in 4 years after this season. And this doesn't even take the postseason bullshite we've seen recently.

I'd venture to say there are lots of LSU fans like me, they just can't make a Thursday night game in College Station because of Turkey day traditions.

This might be offset a little by the fact that the largest LSU alumni chapter outside of LA is in Houston. Local Houston LSU fans will hopefully show up with a strong presence.

I'm just a little miffed that, as someone who enjoys that road trip, I have basically no shot now of doing it.

Ratings rule in this case.

no they don't. This is flat out because Texas A&M wants it, not because the conference feels the ratings will be better. Now the ratings may be better, but that is not the driving force. As discussed last night, CFB ratings on Thanksgiving night have been spoty, have not seen any better than the Friday afternoon LSU-Arky game. It will be on cable instead of CBS and is also going head to head with the NFL on NBC.

I would certainly agree with this statement. There will be plenty of fans that can't make it. And for those that don't, they should enjoy their Thanksgiving with their family and hopefully you will get to enjoy the game that night on TV.

I also agree with this statement. There will still be plenty of folks that do make it out.

yeah my wife can take or leave football. she basically puts up with it bc it makes me happy. neither of our families are that big on football. i'm an anomaly i guess.

now that we have kids, she stays home with them most gamedays and only really makes it out to like the bamas and floridas of the world.

everyone's sitch is different. i'm well aware but i don't get the backlash against the complaining when LSU gets a game (and probably an eventual home game) moved to what's probably the 2nd biggest family day of the year.

and btw to add on to what another poster said when the SEC allowed that one saturday game vs arky a few yrs back i was ecstatic when they moved it/kept it on the saturday. no bitching from me.

I pretty much agree with this. I also find it hilarious that some people try to make it sound like if you go to the game it means you don't have a family, aren't a "family" person, etc. As if any of those assholes know jack shite about any other person's family situation.

i forgot to add that my Turkey Day tradition involves driving across the state to family's place, then making that return trip home exactly during the evening slot this game will likely occupy. Grrr.... DVR is my friend, I guess.

hopefully so, but the assertion that more or the same number would show up on thanksgiving night as would a fri or sat is a bit off. there's no way.

I don't know if anyone has made this assertion, but if they have then the only thing I will say is that we will have to wait and see. Never really know with LSU fans. The number could still be the same or it could be drastically less. We will find out in a year or so!

Nuh uh! 7:00 PM is the only legitimate time a night game can start!

Yea, you're right. My bad. I heard Ponamsky say that earlier and didn't research it myself. I stand corrected.
