re: Why are so many of you so adamantly opposed to A&M on Thanksgiving?

Having LSU play an important west game every Thanksgiving would not be cool.

This sucks. Thanksgiving is a day I have to travel and spend all day with family then travel back home.
The game being on Friday afternoon was prefect. I'm off work that day and can sleep late before getting up to watch the game.

Personally, this A&M fan would prefer Saturday, but I think it's actually the TV folks who are asking that this game NOT be played on Saturday, as the slate of quality games on that date is already crowed. So, as between Thursday and Friday, I'm OK with Thursday. If you have to travel far enough that you need to spend the night at the game sight the night before, then Friday afternoon is just as bad as Thursday as far as interfering with Thanksgiving day activities. When A&M plays at LSU on Friday, my Thanksgiving will be blown the same as if the game were on Thursday night.

Playing on Thanksgiving is THEIR tradition, not ours. If we have to play in College Station on Thanksgiving, then they have to play us in Baton Rouge on SATURDAY NIGHT, because that's OUR tradition.

No A&M specifically asked to play thursday

Lsu fans and am fans will be the only ones watching when you go up against the nfl. Ratings will be terrible.
Living up north, I can't help but think this will be the case. Casual fans that may otherwise tune in to a college game just won't on Thanksgiving. Whatever, I'm not getting my panties in a wad too much over this, but I do think it is a stupid idea.

Everyone here is focused on the impact on the fans, but I am much more concerned about playing at aTm just 4 days after potentially playing another SEC team. THAT is bullshite.
It also speaks volumes about their true concerns re: player safety. "Oh we want the game safe, these kids can't be getting hurt....oh, you're gonna offer me $10 million to play a game on 3 days rest? Sign me up!"

Apparently the only traditions that the SEC cares about are Alabama's traditions.

We have a bye week before the A&M game. Find something else to cry about

Well we have a bye week the week before, so the A&M game will definitely not be 4 days after playing another SEC team.

Saturday-Thursday is not 3 days rest.

I think he is talking about future games

Ah, so now we're bitching about potential situations 2 years from now, because it has been clearly stated that LSU will not host A&M on Thanksgiving in 2015. Got it.

Ok think before you start spewing bullshite.
I believe he was referring to future games A&M hosts that will most likely be on thanksgiving. We arent guaranteed to have a bye every year before that game they host. I didnt say it, he did so chill the frick out.

They say the tv people don't want this, but I agree.
I'm tired of everyone's else's tradition being important, but it seeming that lsu aren't. And the fans continue to get screwed.
Night home sec games are hard to find because we have been good. If we are accepting am tradition they should except ours.
Then you pile on other stuff like the sec scheduling, lsu admins scheduling neutral site series with Wisconsin when a home and home would have been absolutely epic, and it seems the sec office and lsu admins are not worrying about the fans that pay the bills for this whole operation.

I was making exactly this point. For the record, other than how the game affects LSU's chances at an SEC West title, IDGAF if they put it on Thanksgiving at home or on the road.

I really don't see the big deal. Is thanksgiving that huge to some of y'all? I skipped the last 3 or 4 years to study for my finals in law school. I'd skip to go to a game I wanted to see.
So you are 1 year out of school. My point is still the same. One day you will be married, have children, have in-laws, and grandparents that want to see their grandchildren. Thanksgiving is just one of those times that family will have to come first.

You're right, I did spew bullshite. We are complaining about something that could potentially happen in 3 years, not 2 years. We are talking about the 2016 game the next time A&M hosts LSU on Thanksgiving.
