is because it behooves the SEC to do so. The reason that night games are handed to LSU less easily is because it behooves the SEC far less to do so
Did the SEC just figure this out? Why didn't they schedule a game that night before? Why not put Auburn-Alabama up against UT-A&M in the past? Were they not interested in "hurting" Texas and the Big 12 back then?
Ratings for the prime time LSU-Bama game have been higher than day games. ABC is getting higher ratings with their night game over their day games. so it would seem it would behoove the SEC to play more prime time regular season games.

The NFL doesn't play on Saturday during CFB season as a courtesy. Regular season NFL clobber CFB ratings.
This is true.

Poor points according to someone that clearly does not understand how TV contracts work or what marginal differences mean. On the one had you say casual fans don't matter, then suggest it "hurts" UT and the Big 12 to play a game at the same time. sincee you are not going after casual fans, that means you are going after fans that already follow the various programs. TV contracts are paid in advance and are not paid based on slight variations from year to year. Again the Texas game last year was a 1.1, there is no way LSU-A&M will cut into that enough for it to matter. This year it will probably up because they are playing TTU instead of TCU, TTU has a larger fan base. The Texas ratings will go up if they are good, just like the LSU-A&M ratings will swing depending on where they are ranked and whats at stake.
Damn. Deep right there.

I know you said you already explained but could explain again how A&M-LSU playing opposite UT-TCU "hurts" the University of Texas, which has the #1 AD in the nation, bring in $150M+ in revenue a year? The same UT that has a $300M/20 year deal with ESPN for the LHN. Next explain how "hurting" UT "helps" the SEC?

I just think its shitty LSU seems to always have to compromise, while other teams seem to dictate what they want scheduling wise. It's getting old.

Dude, LSU plays in the Old Spice classic on Thanksgiving this year.
What if it's the same scenario next year? I can't be torn between the two sports that day....

Can't blow off the family on Thanksgiving to attend. Needs to be on Friday or Saturday

More of this pious crap. I like the game, so I must not care about family.
Who do you think I'll be at the game with? Stfu. It's somebody else's birthday. Stop being an a-hole.
people have valid complaints on why they can't attend the game as oppoosed to if it were on fri or saturday.
you're shitting on people with valid complaints.

so if someone you work with complains that it takes them 3 times as long to get to work because of new construction, do you just say "well it doesn't affect me, so you should get over it."
you're a gem of a person.

If A&M is determined to keep their Big 12 tradition alive they should play Missouri on Thanksgiving.

Exactly... or even Arkansas as they used to be ole southwest conference rivals.
Maybe if LSU/ Ta&m was a 2nd or 3rd game in early to mid September than there would be less of a reason for a neutral site marquis OOC game.
But our AD and department seem to lack the foresight for that thinking...

quote:No I'm not. I'm eating a lot of tacos with extra hot sauce and diarrheaing on people who are complaining that this "screws LSU." It does not. Lamenting that you can't go to the game because of this is one thing. Lamenting that you can't go to the game and, therefore, that this screws LSU is narcissism and excessive bitching.
people have valid complaints on why they can't attend the game as oppoosed to if it were on fri or saturday.

After diarrheaing on those people, I'm wiping my arse with one-ply and throwing the bloody remains on the people who say "Oh, you'll understand when you have a family of your own," because frick those people who think that because they have 2.5 kids that they're the only people on earth who place any importance on family. The fact is that a lot of people who place importance on family DON'T place too much importance on Thanksgiving because the day before is the biggest travel day of the year, so it behooves them to do their family stuff some other time. Therefore, football games are all of a sudden a reasonable consideration for those people, myself being one of them.
Screw the narcissists who think that because one game every two years is on Thanksgiving, LSU is getting screwed. What a dumb thing to think.
