I'm certain we DO know who we are talking to.

Texas is his dream Job. It may be open soon.

He would be a bad hire imo for LSU. I think only two things can happen with him. He sucks and is fired, or he's good and takes the Texas Job when it opens.

Has this been openly stated?

Its not even close. Not saying Herman is bad...but there is huge risk.

There are risks with everybody, even Jimbo. With Herman you don't know if his success projects to this level, and if he can manage a high stakes program. With Jimbo, you don't know if he still has the fire, if the character problems at FSU were of his doing and if he'll bring them here, etc.

I agree. Chip Kelly is a virtual lock to succeed, IMO.

Herman? Herman is a huge unknown, but I like what I'm seeing.

chip Kelly wouldn't absolutely kill it here

All i can remember is that he he didn't "kill it" when he faced LSU at the beginning of 2011, nor in the Natty against Auburn.

Saban didn't "kill it" in '99 when we faced him.

Means nothing.

I can't see him doing well in recruiting against Saban. Kelly has already stated he hates recruiting which would worry me.

I heard it on espn, I know that doesn't mean anything, but he did coach there under brown in 99 and 00. Also has strong Texas ties.

How old are you?

He did better than most in 2011...the game openly swung on turnovers and special teams.

As for auburn...he took a team that wasn't even close to the talent of auburn and cam newton and damn near won a nc if not for a last second field goal.

Seriously what do u not understand about the difference in talent he would have here over Oregon. Its huge.

It is no guarantee he would even recruit at a high level here. I'm not that familiar with Oregon, but with Nike backing you with a blank check, its possible that's the reason they were able to get some talent there. Also having the Nike sparq combine there basically gives them an extra visit for kids who may never even thought about going there to play.

But all that can be fixed with rt assistant hires with ties in the south.

Keep frank and O and Steele at lb coach and we good.

I thought LSU recruited itself? Lol

Seriously look at the skill players we got with our 70s offense....with the skill player talent in LA I could see them lining up to play for chip.

Get what we deserve? You're just as bad as the assholes who want LSU to lose because they don't like Les.

Not one person is saying he's a better coach than Kelly.

People are mad because you compared him to Sumlin when in fact the schemes are completely different. Sumlin runs an Air Raid offense and Herman runs a balanced spread.

And did Sumlin hang 500 yards of offense against a Saban coached defense with 2 weeks to prepare while using a 3rd string quarterback?

Has Saban ever called Sumlin to a meeting to ask what was wrong with his defense and how was he able to hang 500 yards of offense on it?
