The fact we have “fans” here that are damn near giddy about this and proud of it is sad. You’re not cool or progressive or enlighten by taking a stance of you want some 20 yr old kid to make a bunch of money. That “kid” doesn’t give one single frick about any of us.

Who gives a shite about any of that? I look at it from a pro capitalism view point. In this case, these players hold almost all the power. They just haven’t realized it as a unified group yet.

What else can you offer a kid who want to play NFL football?

The opportunity to set yourself for life with your first contract rather than your second. It works for him.

LSU has played in 4 national championship games in 20 years.

They recruit the same players.

So yea they are. They just don’t play in cupcake leagues.,

Meanwhile, most of these guys have bills to pay.

I find it disturbing that in a capitalistic system, any of you would advocate for anyone to not be employed and become part of the system.

A human being has to be completely intellectually dishonest to say these programs are equal in terms of sustained success

Which should not be tolerated in a capitalistic society. Or are you saying that capitalism has severe flaws?

You are a fool if you think these guys and their families aren’t are all getting paid.

That said, the NCAA needs to get off its arse and enact new rules for profiting off is sponsorships and use of likeness. That will change how some of these guys approach preparation for the draft and it won’t incur the wrath of Title IX in the process like direct payments would.

I have zero proof of this so I assume nothing.

If so. Are they making as much as the NFL is offering with benefits? I highly doubt it. Even the practice squad players are making a pretty good living especially when you factor in their benefits like health insurance

What’s capitalist about labor unions? It’s a union and the NFL who control the rules over who can be drafted. The NCAA doesn’t have much to do with it beyond controlling eligibility.

Am I? I’m all for people using their talents to get ahead in life. I have used mine to my advantage numerous times in order to leverage a higher salary than most. It’s good to be unique and required.

LSU is going to close on their 3rd straight top 5 recruiting class.

It’s irrelevant where a Les miles-coached team finished, or where a coach O led team finished after taking over for a fired head coach.

Recruiting speaks to perception of your program. And LSU having the best season in CFB history backs that up on the field.

There are maybe 3 schools that have had a better 3 year run than LSU on the field & in recruiting. Even with what is happening right now.
