Mathieu was the most entertaining player but he was a four-star player -- ranked third to sixth in the state by 247 and Rivals.

Jefferson was ranked 1,584 in the country, 203 among receivers and 65 in the state by 247Sports. The 247 Composite had him rated even lower, at about 2,400, 308 best receiver and 77 in the state. He played in only six games as a freshman with no receptions. He is owe the top-rate and highest paid NFL receiver. Quite an improvement.

Jacob Hester was the heart and soul of the 2007 champions.

Not sure what his ranking was out of Rayne HS, but Josh Reed was freaking money. Dude ran precision routes, shook off tackles, and never seemed to drop the ball. Plus, he was always wide open . Being a RB in HS probably helped with the hands. Got the ball rolling 2000 v Tennessee

TM7 was definitely a 4 star. Maybe not when we offered, but was almost top 100 by the end of the cycle.

And I remember recruiting fools on this board whining because of his star rating. Sometimes just trust the coaches who do this for a living

TM7
Greatest defender I’ve ever seen in college football.

Labrandon Toefield.
Didn’t play a down his senior year of high school because he tore his ACL on the first day of spring practice. LSU still honored his scholarship offer and he ended up having a damn good career.
