I think getting 'The Chief' at LSU has really helped Miles cause and saved his arse multiple times.

no he is not. Not taking anything away from Miles, but Saban is the best coach in college football. Miles is on the next tier
I really can't argue with this.

Saban brought two programs back to elite status and won championships at both programs. IMo that is why I feel he is the better coach. and to point out that saban's baseline was alot lower at both programs. He essentially had to change the brand and makeup of the program to be successful.

Alabama was 10-2 in 2005, Saban's first year was 2007, they were not a down and out program.

Short term to turn around a program you have to go with Saban. If I was looking fora long term coach, for a program that is elite it would have to be Miles. Saban will always leave when he get bored, and he can't even enjoy success of a MNC for more than a few seconds. He is so miserable, and there were a lot of unhappy players here when he left.

tell that to alabama fans.

I thought that was answered last year when Bama/saban got fooled on the little reverse

Miles has never had a UAB or ULM game like Saban. Miles doesn't lie like Saban, I think most of the sheep that believe Saban is the greatest ever is because he infers it and the talking heads repeat it.

if you argue that LSU should be #1 based on results on the field (playing Oregon, etc..) then you must argue that Saban gets the nod vs Miles based on accomplishments (2 NC at 2 schools). Mile is a GREAT coach but Saban has the resume.

Yeah he had to change the brand and makeup of Alabama, what a shitty program.......
He walked into a shite load of talent at Bama. They were top 10 in the nation a year or so before he got there.
Its funny how many people like ridin sabans dick.

Sabun flat out got out coached last year.
Both are good coaches. Both have different styles is all.
Nov 5 does not prove shite about who is the better coach. It's the whole body of work over their careers that will.

as much as I hate to say, Saban is a better coach.
At this point, Les should be in any conversation for National Coach of the Year for 2011.

To answer your question, no. Miles has been loyal to LSU and kept LSU as a top tier program. He will go down in history as the greatest ever at LSU.

Bottom line is you said the program was in shambles and had to like change the culture.
As soon as saban walked in he had 5 star recruits there already, and he starting stock piling more.
It wasn't like he had to start from a Ole Miss level.

They screwed Shula.
For the record young LSU fans.....several had refused bamas head job before they bribed $abun to take it. Mal Moore was all but fired before $abun and $ext on shoved it down their throats.
It used to be said that bama had one of the best jobs in the country. The subsequent hiring of Sabin proved that it wasn't.

I wonder if Saban's two championships explain why he gets a relative pass on glaring frickups like UAB, Iowa, ULM, Utah.

no, but he had to change the attitude in Tuscaloosa. Guys like Bryant Jr had to much control of the program and Saban changed that.

I thought that was answered last year when Bama/saban got fooled on the little reverse..... not just the reverse, but the game.. also, with the way CLM has handled this years issues, and kept the team focused .... I can't see how one could put him below Saban... Not to mention he has maintained the #1a team so far.... What elevates Sagan over Miles? That's the question for me....

But had Saban stayed here would he have won another in 2007 or any other year? He only won at 2 schools cause he thought the grass was greener in the NFL and it wasn't and when it didn't work out he jumped back into a faltering program.
Not being ugly but who's to say that he'd have won another one here??? Hopefully, but who knows?
