Who's still in disbelief that this is the offense we're running now?

Not talking about the execution of a scrimmage. But the 2 back 2 receiver toss dive days were so scarring. There was no end in sight. I watched them line up 5 wide today and I'm still...

It's so refreshing, but frustrating at the same time.

I truly believe LSU could have had a bama-esque dynasty 2007-2016 if the offense was modernized.

that's what is so tragic

the waste of great talent.

Yeah, don’t think we will ever see that 2019 offense. Just don’t even look the same, despite execution...

He's talking about the Miles years where he brought in top talent on offense and ran them into the ground with his stone age michigan philosophy. Idiot almost cost us Chasem

LOL. I still remember the single receiver plays we would run. And we were successful on some of them! Shows you the talent we had.

Even if not a dynasty, certainly more success. 2007 offense was great. Les said nah no more of that.

I still laugh at the 3rd and 1 we had against West Virginia in '11 when Lee did PA and hit OBJ across the middle for that long catch and run TD. Herby lost his mind in surprise

I don't know. We have had top level wide receivers in the past, and we have had running backs as talented as CEH. Burrow was the rarity and looking at the QB's we have now and the recruits coming in, we may not get a Heisman winner again, but the drop off won't be that great.

Plus if Arik comes back and Johnson's brother performs at TE we might make up the QB drop off at TE.

Some coaches set up the pass play with a running play. Les sets up the pass with about 20 running plays.

For as shifty as the offense was, give Miles credit. Nobody pulled off more trick plays from 2005-2010.

I’ve made a thread about it but that series against Ole Miss where we ran the ball like 13 times for 85 yards then threw a PA pass to a walk-in tight end was the highlight of Les’s careee

Agreed but there's no point in airing the ball out all of the time if you're not doing it in a modern, effective way.

LSU lost its ability to do that with Brady and until I see the actual play calling and design look different than it did today then I won't understand why we aren't taking a balanced approach.

Several teams had very high powered offenses, and Bama has maintained one yet they can be extremely balanced. We just went from all runs, to all passes.

It's all about having an understanding of the offensive system and concepts and understanding the weaknesses of the defense. Burrow had it all and was able to do the extra things needed because of his extremely light class load. It was a perfect storm. That's why they blew teams away. You have the same talent at the playmaking positions but you need a QB to execute everything. If they get someone that can do 80% of what Burrow could do then they will be very successful.

The only time we need to go Old school ground and pound LSU is on the goaline. We have more trouble at the dam 2 yard line trying to punch it in. Other than that wouldnt mind never seeing the les miles offense ever again

Today in the spring game LSU had several plays with four wide receivers on the one-yard line!
