Eades would pitch a week from today. He has thrown about 100 pitches total in his last two outings. He's had plenty of rest. Then you have Glenn who hasn't pitched a game since the SEC tounament.
If the game two opponent has quite a few left handed batters maybe Glenn gets the call.
My gut tells me Eades, but CPM is always making adjustments. These adjustments usually work hence LSU's current position. In CPM I trust.

The draft even played into Mainieri's strategy this weekend. He did not make any pitching plans for this weekend beyond Aaron Nola on Friday because of the draft. Not until Ryan Eades was taken with the 43rd overall pick by the Minnesota Twins Thursday night did Mainieri decide Eades would pitch Saturday's second, and potential series-clinching, game. "I wanted to see how the draft was going to go," Mainieri said. "I didn't want him to be heart-broken. I was worried he was going to drop. I wanted to see what his mental state of mind was going to be."

If Eades were his definitive #2, the draft would not have mattered in the Super Regional decision. Especially when the other option screwed up off the field and had to be voted back on to the roster earlier that week.

Gotta think its Eades so he could rest up for the championship series.

However, what happens if Eades starts Monday against UCLA and we save Nola for the second game. I know, I know we want to immediately guarantee a spot in the winners bracket, but the level of competition from UCLA compared to SoCar/UNC/NC State is noteworthy.
well Nola has already been announced, and the game isnt monday. so there that...

I'd like to go
Nola
Glenn
Nola
Like we did in 09.
If you go 2-0 there's a long enough break from your first to third game where you can pitch your game 1 starter again. That may keep Nola from pitching until game 3 of the champ series, though.
The best route IMO would be Nola, Glenn, then Eades in the game where LSU is 2-0. Then if LSU loses come back with Nola to send LSU to the champ series. If Eades gets the win then you have Nola for game 1.. If he loses then you have your ace send you to the champ series and have Glenn start game 1.

quote:UCLA just swept Fullerton and has some studly pitching. Basically, that first game could play out like the Gray-Nola game just did. You start Nola and don't even think twice about it!

Agreed. I think Eades can handle UCLA's bats. Nola gives me more confidence against UNC/USCe/NC State. Then Glenn puts us through against who ever is left. Nola should be able to pitch game 2 in the championship series this way.

Matchups dictate . If the opponent is LH heavy he will go with the lefty.
