This is true more often than not, but it’s far from a hard rule. See OSU last year. Florida St the year before (pre Travis injury).

Meh I'll make my normal opening day $100 bet on LSU but going ML this year. I'm only down $500 on Labor Day Weekend in the last half decade it's all good!
