Some of y'all are really overating the defenses in the SEC. Bama, LSU, Florida and Auburn will have good defenses, the rest will be meh af

The days of dominating defenses all over the SEC are gone

This is a tough one and you could be right.

I just have to think that with a Heisman candidate at RB and a retuning QB that they do have a chance to be top 10 - even though that is not easy to accomplish.

Something else I saw on Dandy Don's recently. It may have been the Q&A with Mike D. But, it was mentioned that some of LSU's main competitors in the SEC had lost a lot of their defensive starters and were basically rebuilding.

Found it.

Mike D:

This year, Alabama will be very good, Georgia returns 10 starters, and Kentucky returns eight starters, but the rest is three, four or five starters, for the most part. Who can get that defense to jell quickly will be the key,

This includes LSU as they probably lost more top quality defensive players than anybody.

Canada was 532/41 in the ACC

Kiffen was 582/39 in the SEC.

Had no idea that Bama's O was as good as Canada's O but even in a better conference.

Not so fast my friend. These numbers are a tad off.

Alabama was actually at 32 points per game in offensive scoring, whereas Pittsburg was at 38 points per game. Pittsburg ranked 9th in the country in offensive scoring and Bama was at 32nd.

Bama played 15 games so the total points should be higher. I was also surprised by the average per game for them.

First time I understood why Eaux would want Kiffin anywhere near the LSU program. For as big an idiot I think Kiffin is, he does appear to be a pretty darn good OC. Glad he is gone from Bama.

You need to take out Bama's 11 defensive TD's, too. That accounts for an estimated 77 points of that total.

This might come as a shocker to you little guy, but bama had just a tad bit more talent at every single position, than Pitt.

We haven't seen Canada coach one game in the SEC so no one knows how explosive or if LSU will be explosive offensively. I like the hire a lot but I don't get how people automatically think we are going to be this high powered explosive offense in year one of the system.

The better question is how quickly will this board explode when the OC keeps running jet sweeps that aren't gaining a yard?

You guys are forgetting bama has the best of the best in talent, their O line is roided up, and they get very few holding calls.

Because we still scored with bozo the clown and friend running the show. Imagine what we can do if we actually utilize the talent, field, and take advantage of weaknesses of the other defense. I get it though, it kills you to be positive.

LSU averaged 27.2 points per game last year offensively (does not include defensive scores.) If Canada was to add just one additional TD per game then we'd be sitting at 34 points scored per game offensively. Personally, I think we'll be sitting very close to 37-40 points per game average....with the help of any defensive scores that may factor in the equation.

Which may be a wash. I'm hoping LSU's offense has more talent than what Pitt had last year. Guice is a Heisman candidate and LSU has always had very good skill position players.

It could be. It's going to depend on what he can get out of Etling.

Please tell me you don't think Bama is the only team with a "roided up" line?

I'm hoping MC does well here, but i think folks are getting a little ahead of themselves. I'm cautiously optimistic, but this could be Gary Crowton Part II
