I remember Woodley (RIP) against the redskins in the super bowl. my dad told me he was from lsu. I had just really gotten into the tigers around the Dalton hilliard years.

Began really watching LSU football as a kid whenever “Cecil the Diesel” Collins from Leesville went to play in Baton Rouge. He absolutely terrorized teams in high school and I hoped he would do the same for the tigers. Even though he didnt pan out, watching the tigers play from that point forward got better each year. The first QB I really remember then was Josh Booty.

Jeff Wickersham...had my face painted like a tiger for the 1985 Sugar bowl vs Nebraska and the seats at the top of the dome scared the shite out of me.

I was aware sort of Alan Risher as a little kid, but it's Jeff Wickersham when I think I really knew what was going on.

Here's something to think about, from 1980-1989 LSU had just three starting quarterbacks: Risher (80-82), Wickersham (83-85), Hodson (86-89). Guidry is the only other QB with at least 100 attempts in the 80s, but he never had 50 attempts in a season.

I'm 31 years old and vaguely recall Josh booty and Abraham booty hooking up, I remember going to evangel high school games and watching them but was young
.
But my clear memories are watching Rohan against Kurt kittner at Illinois in the bowl game that year, think it was sugar bowl.

Around that time We lived in Shreveport.(now live in Benton, which is bossier parish north of bossier city ) I remember going to several evangel high school games with my dad. One game We were in the back of the endzone on the field and watching the game. Out of nowhere all of the sudden Brock Berlin hit someone in the back of the endzone on a fifty yard bomb on the last play of the half and we almost got taken out... Lol, I remember seeing Brock Berlin play and thinking he was gonna be the best quarterback in college football in a couple years.

Does anyone remember anything about his recruiting process, what he was ranked, if that was even done back then, and if LSU almost got him or anything? Why didn't he go to LSU?

The same thing happened with John David booty.. With the amount of hype and accolades in high school, you could say they both flopped.

Berlin transferred from Florida to miami , I think.

He was the top rated player in the country. We wanted him badly. However he was coming out as an early January enrollee during Dinardo‘s last year. Everyone knew that DiNardo was going to be fired. Berlin had to make his choice that December when Saban was first named coach. At that point, very few people even knew who Saban was. When he was hired, people actually asked why were we hiring the old Buffalo Bills coach (Lou Saban) who was old and hadn't coached in years. While most were upset to see Berlin go to Florida, it was understandable given the time period in which he had to make his choice.
