Who the hell is our arch rival?
if ole miss can pull out a couple more wins id say them, but rt now ark especially since theyve won 2 in a row
I don't think archrivalries are established over the course of a couple of wins or losses. Arkansas is a rival because we play them annually and the games effect our standing in the conference, etc. But Arkansas is not any more of a rival than Auburn, Alabama, or Florida. Actually, in the last decade, our main rival has been Auburn (in practical terms), but that seems now to be shifting to Alabama because LSU and Alabama are likely to be the most prominent teams in the West for the foreseeable future. Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas may show some years of being a threat to win the West, but I don't think they will be consisently in the running at the end the way LSU and Bama will be, at least if expectations remain as they are now. But I think every year will be a real battle because almost every team in the west has stepped up their game, even Mississippi State could show some life under Mullen.
But I still think the Ole Miss rivalry is the one that most fits the archrivalry designation, especially if Nutt revives and maintains the Ole Miss program.

As I noted, as a practical matter, Alabama seems to be moving into the role with LSU that Auburn occupied for most this decade. In other words the Bama game now takes on an increased importance vis-a-vis other conference games, so I understand the sentiment. But if Ole Miss maintains a competitive program, it will still be Ole Miss as the archrival.
I lived through the era when the Bama game really was the most important game of the year in most years, because that game usually stood between LSU and an opportunity for an SEC championship, but it still wasn't as big a game, rivalry wise, as Ole Miss was.

Bama is now our arch rival, even if we aren't theirs.

Ole Miss is the only team we play that hates us as much as we hate them, so I'd say that Ole Miss is our biggest rival. Most Ole Miss fans I know hate LSU more than anyone (yes, more than State), and I hate Ole Miss more than anyone else.

For LSU-its Alabama. Only onoe reason. Nick Saban. If not for Saban this game would be where it always was, somewhere between Arky and Ole miss. Our rival is Auburn. Period. Never to be supplanted. Then UT because they are closest to us in wins and the series but it pales to Auburn. LSU is not our rival. Its not even in the same stratosphere as "arch" rivals go. Just too far apart geographically, wins, people you live and work with, etc. To LSU though, Bama is.

LSU really doesn't have a rival. For those saying it is Alabama, you can't really have a one way rivalry, and Bama already has enough rivalry irons in the fire. There is enough mutual hatred with Auburn and Tennessee to take up any fan's time.
I agree that the Arkansas "boot" game is a pretty contrived thing. It might turn into a rivalry after a number of years, but you just can't force rivalry status on a game. Ole Miss and Tulane haven't been competitive enough in a while to keep those feelings burning.

Our rival is whoever is keeping us from winning the West. For awhile it was auburn. Now its Bama.

I'm not sure about rivalry, but Florida is who we play our most intense games against. Last year in football became a blowout in the fourth quarter but other than that even the b-ball games have been crazy in the past few years.
As for who the LSU fanbase hates the most (as in wants to see lose) its Alabama. Unless Ole Miss or Auburn are ahead of us in the standings.

It is Tulane, and Ole Miss.
For people who say Bama, Florida, auburn, etc dont understand that these schools do not see us as arch rivals.
It must go both ways.

They are more of an arch rival to us than any SEC foe not named Ole Miss.

Alabama since Saban went there. Before that, I'd say Auburn.

I guess since we keep coming up as a potential rival, I will add my thoughts from the opposite side. Texas will always be our biggest rival in my mind, even when we don't play them but a few times a decade. Eventually we will either have to trade the A&M series for a series with UT or this rivalry will die down in the minds of younger fans. Within SEC play right now we hate Ole Miss, but that is like your dislike of Bama...it isn't really the team, it is the coach. Of course, the coaches are disliked for different reasons and we won't go into that, but just like your dislike for Bama ours for OM will wane and fade over time.
I DO think of LSU as a rival, but it has more to do with the fact that there are more LSU fans at work than any other non-Hog SEC team than any on the field issues. This has been a good series lately and historically (of course before the last three or four years, you have schooled us since we joined the SEC). If we can keep up our end of the bargain, we may eventually be rivals. The trophy has nothing to do with it though...
I will add though that if we had beaten you in 2006 and went to the Sugar Bowl instead of you guys, then you might dislike us a bit more. Also if the stars hadn't aligned for you guys in 2007 and your loss to us had prevented you guys from going to the NC game THEN you might really despise us ;)

I'm a State undergrad...grew up in Ms. Anyone from inside the state can tell you the hate is real...thick...palpable...between these two programs. Do you remember the brawl between the teams on national tv a few years back? It's as intense rivalry as there is...it just doesn't matter to anyone outside of Ms.
e Ole Miss-MSU rivalry seems to lack the heat
