Why would it be the rock? What is his connection to LSU

This is my problem with Rock. He has no connection to LSU other than he played for O at a different school. What would be the difference if ESPN brought in an Ole Miss player from 2005 or a USC player from 2013 to guest pick?

Is Brent Schaeffer some mega WWE/Hollywood star that I don't know about?

Add Jacob Hester / Matt Mauck to the list.

Hester, Mauck and Flynn are not celebrities. For that matter Bregman is not quite there yet either.

The Rock would be a nice call. Shaq is always a good option. Les would be great, but may be too soon, I pray it is not the Duck Dynasty guys or the 2 rappers.

The Rock and Les would be my top choice of the ones mentioned, What about Smylie Kaufman.

Nah...but looking at all the LSU guys currently in the NFL that are on bye that week, it would be cool to have Les leading an alumni group down the hill.

PP7, Mathieu, Simon, Minter, J. Hill, Mingo, Whitworth, Lafell, A. Blue, Barrow....all on byes this week. How bad arse would that be to have those guys marching down the hill with Les.

Even if he was there would be no connection to LSU. The guest picker that best suits LSU is somebody that, at least in some fashion, represents the school. Shaq, Brian Wilson, Bregs, Dale Brown, Billy Cannon, Patrick Peterson, Honey Badger, James Carville, Lolo, Kevin Faulk, John Breaux. What is The Rock going to do to help rep LSU?

BTW: The measuring stick for guest pickers should be Brian Wilson circa 2011.

Duck Dynasty

Good Lord, NO. Just, NO.

I'm an Red Stick expat that's lived away from home for over 15 years now. And I can tell you one thing: The Dork Dynasty clan may have a popular show, but outside of Louisiana there are precious few that see them as anything other than parodies, right up there with Turtleman from "Call Of the Wild Man" (and just as fake).

They aren't good representatives of La. They're bad parodies of what everyone THINKS the good folk of our state are like. And, unless I miss my guess, they actually ARE parodies. North La. rich folk acting like they're paddling pirogues around the bayous beating away gators with paddles? Really?

Phil may be the real deal, or at least the most authentic. But the rest of that family as presented by their "show" are just as fake as Sankey and Foley's explanation of why the Florida game was moved.

Some might say "but they're examples of successful Louisiana folks that made it big". If you're talking about the duck call business itself, then yeah I'll give you that. But their main success outside of the duck call business has come from letting the rest of the country laugh at the stupidity and hi-jinx of the 'Koonass Kardashians', i.e. a bunch of jumped-up cajun bumpkins who hit it rich, like the Beverly Hillbillies.

It's just my opinion, but that clan and their show are frauds. They negatively caricature Louisiana sterotypes for fame and profit. Believe me when I tell you that those stereotypes are NOT positive.

Nope, no Dork Dynasty people.

Not.Again.Not.Ever

PS & FWIW: I'm not slandering the good people of West Monroe, either. My Grandmother lived just across the street from Bayou Desiard, and I learned how to fish in that bayou with catalpa worms plucked off trees in her front yard. Some of the best food I ever had was at her favorite table in the back of the Mohawk Tavern.

Monroe folk are good people, and they're MY people just as much as the coonass half of my family from South La. That's why I dislike the Dork Dynasty phenomenon so much - it's a sad caricature of good people that only serves to enrich a bunch of frauds (other than Phil).

Nope, do not want.
