One point and one question:

First, why is everyone assuming Danielle Hunter leaves? He is not a top five DE right now and his lack of production in the pass rush will give scouts pause. Everyone seems to think that because a bunch of other players - many with tough family circumstances - chose to leave that every LSU player is plagued by poor long-term judgment. Ever heard of La'El Collins? Dude came back and played himself into the first round. Danielle Hunter, Kwon Alexander and few others have a chance to (1) be part of something special in 2015 and (2) earn themselves millions (as opposed to a couple hundred thousand) by coming back and playing their way up the draft boards.

Second - Is anyone aware of the status of Rashard Robinson?

People keep saying Collins, and really i don't see it. He will get the "go back to school" grade

Think of it like this, Thomas is a great nickel corner that could also play at CB, there are some young bucks behind him (Paris) and guys coming in that could start (Cutrer a top JUCO DB and Toliver, the #2 ranked prep CB). I don't think his stock will get any higher staying another year, and he could lose his spot again. I didn't even add in the possibility of Robinson getting his shite together for one final year. Same for Mills. With guys like Battle, Adams, Jefferson, and Lewis coming in, I think he knows it's time to scoot.

Another thing. IMO, Kwon could go or stay, but I'd prefer he stayed. I don't hear much buzz about him in the draft, and there is nobody who could beat him out if he did come back. Now I don't know about his home situation, so this might play a bigger factor than anything else. Hopefully he returns.

IMO, if Vadal comes back, he can solidify himself as the #1 Guard which is good for a top 30 pick. Even still, he might go in the 2nd round this year if he leaves. I think La'el, Miles, and Grimes need to recruit him all over again. Also, take out the insurance on him like how they paid off La'el's.

Hunter as well, needs to show the scouts that he has pass rush skills. I think getting up to 255-260 next year would make him more able to beat his man off the ball and make a play on the QB. Sure he gets TFL (12.5 as of right now) but they need to see the sacks. At 1.5 sacks this year as a 12 game starter, it pretty pathetic. He is great in the run game, but the NFL is mostly a passing league now. He has the speed and size, just needs to produce the #s on the field.

Hawkins could be easily swayed by offering him the LT spot. That's the money spot on the OL.

If we could somehow manage to keep Vadal, Hawkins, Hunter and Kwon, we will have a legit title contender. Get Harris up to speed, the WRs improve, and we could be a juggernaut in a weaker SEC next year.

I'm saying 8-0 going into Bama next year. You can bookmark that. November will be tricky though. Every game is a landmine.

Arky scares me as much as anybody. I felt the same way this year behind Bama and Auburn...

Aw, come on! Do you even know how big his biceps would have to get to put him at that weight?

Actually, that's how I feel. They bring back Brandon Allen for his final year and while some may laugh at that, he improved from 2013 even with his WRs dropping a lot of passes. Collins and Williams are again better than they were last year as well.

2013
Allen 128/258 49.6% 1552 (6.0 ypa) 13 TDs 10 ints
Williams 150 car 900 yards (6.0 ypc) 4 TDs
Collins 190 car 1026 yards (5.4 ypc) 4 TDs

2014
Allen 178/316 (56.3%) 2125 yards (6.7 ypa) 18 TDs 5 ints
Williams 188 car 1085 yards (5.77 ypc) 11 TDs
Collins 187 car 1024 yards (5.48 ypc) 12 TDs

Add in returners in their third year like Keon Hatcher and Hunter Henry, and they have a typical potent offense like Bret had at Wisconsin.

Defense also doesn't lose much, but I'm guessing that losng Flowers will sting a little.

They have a team that could win 10 or 11 games next year (bowl game included). They will be one the most experienced teams in the whole country.

OP: Great work.

I think it would be helpful to put the number of players at each position that are leaving, as well as ?/11 on offense/defense.

I think that would help it be more visually appealing.

Hunter's lack of pass rush skills will hurt him in the draft

Agree, he pretty much disappeared in the A & M game as well as the Auburn game. Great against the run and tackling RB's behind the line, not so good at creaming the QB. If he stays another year with the maturation of Godcheau and Lacouture, he could be a force like Mingo.

Also anyone know what the holdup was on Valentine? Will he be redshirted?

The thing I find funny is A&M. They talk to us about how young and inexperienced their defense is and that's why they suck...but in reality, they're losing 6 senior starters and their best player is a true freshman.
