What about Huey P Long? Is it a myth that he created the dorms that are now Tiger Stadium (hoping it would become a stadium) because he couldn't get the permission/funding to build one?

for what was done while at LSU, i would go with CJ before Shaq.

outside of LA its easily Shaq

To LSU fans I would say Billy Cannon.
To the world at large it is Shaq and it isn't even close.

Pistol Pete for me. Most NBA fans outside of Louisiana don't even know who Shaq played for in college.

Billy freakin' Cannon. Halloween night run, running a punt back for the only score of the night AND, what many people forget, made the final tackle on a goalline stand at the end of the game to beat Ole Miss. Only LSU player to win the Heisman Trophy in 1959. Part of LSU's first ever National Championship team in 1958.

It's Shaq hands down. Nobody under 30 knows who Pistol Pete is...

To the casual observer: Shaq
To the LSU die-hard: Skip

Also, roughly 90% of the people who reside on planet Earth, at any age, are dipshits. College sports fans under age 30 are a fraction of that population, thus you are talking about a group of people which is primarily comprised of dipshits.

Very simple reasoning. Every person alive on the planet knows who Shaq is vs. Millions who do not know who Pistol Pete is or was. Shaq is a huge sports icon world wide. The question is not who was the most legendary sports figure at LSU. It was who is the #1 sports figure in LSU history? Pete M. did not do much after LSU.

Ask a randomly chosen group of people worldwide where he went to college...you think many will say LSU?
