Well Josh should’ve been a big get. The guys already been in the NBA a few games and definitely has upper level talent for a college point. The problem was he wasn’t used correctly and was benched so that Jones’ pet Tim Quarterman could have the ball in his hands all of the time. Gray should’ve been a high assist man with the weapons we had around him but he played in a structureless offense with no coach. Quartermans best spot production and efficiency wise was as our 6th man. I’m not arguing against him starting but he was no point guard. He couldn’t defend other point guards and he didn’t have the necessary penetration skills you need in a point guard. He was best as a big wing who could chase shooters on defense and be a slasher from the wing on offense but as with all things Johnny Jones missused him and Josh Gray stunting both players development and hurting the team.

poor Tasmin Mitchell deserved better for his Sr. season.
Was so close to getting 2,000 pts in his career I believe.

Haha I was with selu basketball the year Pop transferred to us. I loved that dude but he didn’t even play much for us.

I ended up being matched up on him in a pickup game at the REC. He hit his first three shots (all 3s) on me while I had three hands in his face.
Other than that, I shut him down

I was so excited after hearing we made the tourney in '15, only to be crushed after that blown lead against NC State.
That was Jones' MO. Get up big in a significant game only to make zero adjustments and watch big leads evaporate into 1-3 point losses. They were becoming like clockwork (excluding that dreadful '16-'17 season of course).

He was always fun to watch. Similar playing style to Waters
He was kind of Waters light, but a good player. Absolutely fearless in clutch situations and won a few last second games. Wish he would have stayed his senior year instead of transferring

I think he was a bit of a head case. It must have been bad for Johnny Jones to run him off.

There are things to criticize Johnny Jones for, but why would he make adjustments from what had built a double digit lead for 36 minutes. The free throw shooting suddenly went cold and they missed a couple of key shots at the end while N C State got hot. Coaching can't always magically overcome a sudden drop in performance as much as may of you always believe.
Many people believe Calipari, Pearl, Howland, Cuonzo etc. are geat coaches yet LSU rallied from way down t0 beat all of them. It happens.

I probably should've clarified. Making adjustments to the other team's adjustments
I'm not necessarily talking about that NC State game. Jones can't make Mickey make 2 of 6 FTs. For some reason, the game that really sticks out to me is Oklahoma. You could sense the season slipping away mentally after that game.

I think Chris Johnson might've come from that same recruiting class and prep school, he actually turned out to be pretty good.
And they were built the exact same lol.
