Hot bitchy sluts in leather. 70 year old men cussing you. Memorial Stadium on steroids.

I made the mistake of drinking a beer out of a bottle. The cop took it and downed it.

Regardless of what you hear on this board it is a lot of fun in Oxford. We went crazy in the bars after the game. I witnessed one of my buddies as a victim in a citizens' arrest at a piano bar after he pulled his johnson out of his zipper and walked up behind the piano player and laid it on his shoulder. It was hilarious and the "hotty toddie" boys were pissed. My buddy lost his shoe when they grabbed him and threw him down the stairs and a melee ensued. We had to disguise ourselves, go back in, retrieve the shoe from the bartender at which time she said, "that was the funniest shite I have ever seen!" Did some tailgaiting with friends in the Grove before the game and was able to hang with Trent Lott and John McCain. It was the 2003 Championship season in which Eli Manning tripped backing out of center on the last play of the game. We won it 17-14 and the rest is history. It is a lot of fun to go there and the chicks are hot and very friendly. I recommend a trip to Ole Miss at least once!

Been there a coupla times. The Grove is worth going to IMO. Nice campus, great looking ladies. Heavy frat population -- blue blazers, ties, khaki, sunglass-wearing Secret Service impersonators -- so many they look like freakin' lobotimized aliens. Harmless? Well, one yr they threw bottles at the LSU band. You'll be called "a corndog." Laugh it off, say, "Your team sucks" matter of factedly and move along. Stadium is small and they seem to route the crowds through ridiculously small openings (ingress and egress.) Old Ms fans will usually avoid direct confrontation so just keep a good 360 degree visual to avoid being hit by a bottle. Overall a good game day experience, weather is usually nice and sunny. Old Ms cheerleaders have ridiculously firm tummies and legs.

Went there in 05 following Katrina and was harassed for living in New Orleans but besides that had a pleasurable experience. We were tailgating right outside the grove with about half/half LSU/OM fan base most of which lived in New Orleans but did undergrad there. Honestly can't remember having to pour my beer in a cup but after reading other post I guess I did so. I too plan on going back to Oxford this year for the game and staying at a friends parents condo somewhere in Oxford. Any recommendations on things to do Friday night before the game for a group of 27/28 year olds? Any good shows that weekend? Eats? ect. Trying to avoid young college bars as must as possible. I remember having a good time after the game in 05 at Parishes, how is this bar on a Friday night?

I was standing 3 feet from the guy who got smoked by a mini Jack Daniel's bottle after half time. What followed is the true story, one of our troopers who traveled with us saw who threw it and pointed it out to a Mississippi Cop who kind of shrugged and did nothing....our trooper scaled the wall, grabbed the guy who threw it, and drug him out of the stands.

Almost as good as

It's in the middle of nowhere. I was there for the clock management debacle 2 years ago. I literally turned my Lsu jacket inside out it is the first time in my life I was embarassed to be an Lsu fan. Not a good feeling.

Been to every LSU/Ole Miss game in Oxford since the mid-90's. The fans weren't the friendliest, but they weren't bad either.... even at the 2003 game, which was pretty intense, we were never treated as bad as we've been treated at other places.

The Grove is worth checking out, just to see what all the fuss is about, but I think LSU tailgates are rowdier, more fun, and more inviting... plus the LSU food is much better.

Pretty campus in the fall, ugly stadium. We always stay in Memphis for the trip

After only reading the first page, I have been knocked back to my senses. I have been to Oxford twice, 2000 & 2003. I was considering going this year, but this thread reminds why I said I would never go there again. A bunch of stuck up rednecks with a inferiority complex. A few tips for the first timers. Definitely have your drink in a cup and do not let them even see you our it in the cup. Be damn careful if you pass thru Batesville also. The cops there target LSU fans. We stopped at a gas station after the 2000 game and had 2 cop cars pull up and they started harrassing us. Going as far as sniffing coke cans in effort to find alcohol. Also don't count on buying more beer on your way back to the hotel after the game. No alcohol sales after 10 pm, they go as far as wrapping a tow chain thru the cooler doors. A real fricked up culture up there, its like another country. I will say this thou the most satisfying moment I ever experienced at a road game was when Eli fell on his arse in 2003. Before and during that game their fans were cocky as hell, they just knew they would win. When the game ended the Ole Miss fans just sat there in silence in there seats. Didn't even get up and leave

what a miserable craphole. what is tailgating without having power to watch other games, cooking, or being able to drink without worrying about nazis? what a joke of a school. guess we can thank the baptists for the drinking rule no?

The Grove is painfully overrated. I walked through at around noon and the majority of the tailgates either weren't set up or had been freshly prepped but noone present. Only one bad encounter with a younger fan and I assume student as we're walking through the Grove he refuses to be polite and just walks right through my whole group of about 4 people. So much for being a southern gentleman. Pouring alcohol into cups is so lame.

Go once to say you've been but don't plan on ever going back.

There in 09... be careful in the grove, they consider it sacred ground. LSU pimps showed up next to us and campus security kicked them out, made our caterer dispose of all of our beer (guilt by association)I guess. Our travel group decided never to return. You are better off tailgating in the RV area where there will be many other LSU fans.

The wife and I went up in 2007 and had a great time. The only problem is hotel space is few and far. Enjoyed the grove and the win. We sat in the small end zone that looks more like a HS stadium bleachers but it was packed with LSU fans so lots of fun.

That was the afternoon when the Pimps got into some scuffle with the Oxford police. Should have gotten a speeding ticket on the way home but the cop gave us a warning and said even if you won you don't have the right to speed.

All in all most of the comments are pretty accurate depending upon the age of the posters. Downtown Oxford is great, clean and full of bars with good food. Not like the crap that surrounds our campus.

went to square last time.
Left game at hlaftime.. made our way downtown.

Man those people, they just dont like LSU fans.
Girls were ok with it,... I had guy try to fight me in a bar where it was ony 4 of us in there.
Kept saying frick Billy cannon and frick LSU.
For a second I thought the bartender was going to lock the doors like chazz did on bronx tale and say now yues cant leave.

I had an 80 yr old man tell me to "go to hell you son of a bitch" tried to grab my shirt
Plus I told about 10 Om little kids santa clause wasn't real.... that really pissed some of them off.
Some dude about my age wanted to fight me afrter the game bc I got a smoke off his gf...
You should really make this trip if youve never been.
Eventful.
