I'll considering heading to Oxford this weekend. Definetly will be there for LSU weekend

Pretty much. I still have a good time usually, but their tailgating is out of the ordinary and in a bad way. Rebfebrees promised me he will show me that Ole Miss tailgating is great when you find the right spot.

What are your thoughts about them removing use of all power in the grove?

i have to say my experiences at ole miss have been quite different than what most have had. the first time i went was '05 (went back in '07 and '09). when i saw the grove, i was impressed. imagine what kind of scene it would be if you took most lsu tailgating and put it on the parade grounds and the surrounding area . i know they have some inconvenient rules because of proximity but, it's still impressive. after having been to every sec campus at least once (except for ark and scar), i can say ole miss is the only school that comes close to lsu's enthusiasm for tailgating.

what no one is mentioning is the oxford square. some excellent restaurants. we go out after the game to the square and i really love it. almost as much as athens. i can honestly say that if we weren't going out to the square after the game, i wouldn't be interested in going to ole miss every other year.

the campus is really nice. we've had no problems with people although i will say things are more chippy than other away games i've been too. definitely more tension.

in '09, i was sitting in the end zone - lsu section. a rebel fan, guy in his 30's, sits down next to us with his kid. the dad tells us his sister got him a "present", little did he know the tickets were in the lsu section. of course, the lsu fans party and have fun. the kid starts to love lsu and participate in the lsu cheers and his dad keeps trying to tell him that geaux tigers is cursing. everybody got a kick out of that.

When you leave your car and head to the game, make absolutely sure there's nothing on your vehicle that identifies you as a Tiger. In fact, try not to park near LSU cars that are dressed out. They're just asking to get keyed or otherwise abused. Understand the liquor laws. Apparently some kind of local law runs right thru campus. On one side, you can have beer sitting out at your tailgate, but NOT liquor. On the otherside, just the opposite. Go figure...It's Mississippi.

know this is a bit early, but we have tix to the Ole Piss game. I need a heads up on what to expect. Tail gate, traditions, when to be where...
I'll hang up now and just listen.

Went back in Deuces Senior Year and had a blast. Stayed in Memphis and went out the Friday night before the game. Silky O'Sullivans on Beal Street was packed with LSU fans. Tailgated right outside the grove on Saturday but spent a good bit of time going back and forth with Ole Piss fans in the grove. Ended up being treated to some pretty good BBQ by some pretty decent Ole Piss fans. Over all a good time was had by all. Went back the year we won the '03 Championship, both times stayed in Memphis.

Ole Miss tailgating is on the 'downalator'

It was already pretty sad with the Walmart finger sandwiches together with the tablecloths, china, and chandeliers.

The only reason to go to The Grove is to ogle the womenz. It was always the only reason.

No power and gas really isn't going to hurt it much. People barely cooked as it is and the people with TVs are few and far between and those that do can have gennies.

People say Ole Miss sucks because they go with a close mind. It is totally different than anywhere else. Also, if you have a bad time on the Square, you are just not a fun person. Great food, great music, and tons of establishments for every type of person.

Girls are hot. Very hot.

My son and i went with a bigtime OM supporter to the 03 LSU-OM game. We actually had a great time. Their food was very good and the beer was cold. Son and I sat in the big middle of the OM side and listened to ONE guy bitch about us being in those seats. His friends told him to cool it and we had a great time with these 5 guys and the whiny bitch. The Grove was pretty cool, but a very small area. Everyone dressed like they were going to a tea or something.

A little story from that day: We were walking thru the DENSE crowd to see the players walk to the stadium. I had a yellow-gold dress shirt on, not exactly LSU colors and an LSU hat. These two VERY nice looking young ladies were walking behind me in a dense crowd. The hotter of the two (obviously not noticing my cap), pretended to brush something off my shirt and said, "Sir, one should never wear this color shirt anywhere LSU fans may be. Cooties might jump on you." Said it very sexily, I might add. I looked into her Gorgeous baby blues and said, lovingly,
"GO TO HELL OLE MISS, GO TO HELL",She then noticed the hat and the look on both the cuties faces was pricelesss.

Oh, and the food is actually pretty amazing:

Long time since I've been but Ajax on square will make you a good poboy and Old Venice has good Italian / pizza.

Stick with LSU tailgates on outskirts but at least walk through Grove to see women in dresses. However, if cold they all have coats on so not as legit.

They hate you.

They really do.

Do yourself a favor and leave your girl at home and go with about 4-25 of your buddies.
Ive been to OM since Saban's first yr.

BTW, 2003 LSU/OM game was the best LSU football game ive ever been to.
And IVe been to them all.

I went to the OM-SIU game earlier this year so I can't comment on how they treat LSU fans personally. However, tailgating at the Grove is...interesting. It's definitely a huge change of pace from the scene in Baton Rouge but it's still lots of fun if you go with a good attitude. Also, the BBQ nachos in the stadium are amazing. Get them.

The Square is also a ton of fun. Oxford is actually a pretty fun city if you know where to go.

Walk of Champions??? You mean Walkers of Champions. The last time those guys were champions was 1965. Those guys have to be like in their 70's by now.

Never laughed so hard in my life. This makes my day. Their tailgating is no comparison to ours.

I went in 2003 and would never go back for a game. I would go back and hit up some of the restaurants on a random weekend. And yes the girls are top notch.

The stereotypes of this thread are insecure and weak. Oxford is a small charming town with lots of literary history and old south values. It's different than baton rouge. No big deal. Insulting the people who live there and love it, is extremely ignorant and shallow. Be proud of what makes us different and be above the weak insecurity. I went to a game there this year and enjoyed it. Not as much as I enjoyed the tiger games I've been to this yr, but it was a great experience.
