Goes without saying

But I think leadoff would be a waste somewhat and would not result in our most productive offense.

100% agree there too...clearly he's our best overall hitter by a pretty far margain. On this roster, I wouldn't have hitting anywhere else. Simply making an observation that he could be a quality lead off hitter.

not really...if the fence is 10ft shorter last year, the results are likely different for lsu

Eh... We weren't getting ANY hits, much less gappers or near-home runs.

Yeah. I can read. What I can't understand is your line of thinking.

He'd also be a quality pitcher, catcher, 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, outfielder, etc., etc.

he has more power for sure but that isnt really what scares me. he seems to either be red hot or ice cold and his slumps are extended periods of time.

rhymes wasnt a good 4 hitter last year either but no one could have said that before last season (like im saying about ibarra for this upcoming season).

eta: for example didnt he have like 1 hit the entire postseason?

Maybe I have a revisionist's history, but I remember him being pretty damn consistent.

what did ibarra do in the postseason? you can either start with sec tourney or regionals. either way im pretty sure he was the worst hitter on the team in that span.

Ok i can agree with that but bregman batting 3rd is the only thing set in stone. If Ibarra isnt hitting he'll get dropped in the order.

Yeah and he had 68 the entire season. Again, what's your point?

True. Either way, I'm not scared to death, or however you worded it, about the idea of him batting clean-up. He was one of our more consistent hitters in the regular season.

He was 3rd on the team in doubles and 2nd on the team in HRs last season.

Ibarra does not scare me at clean up.

Yeah, he was in a serious slump after batting the entire season around .340.

What did Bregman do in Omaha? Should we be worried about him? What about Cresse in 2000 in the CWS?

Ibarra had a lot of loud outs in the post season too. Had a nice stretch of bad luck. That counts for something, you better believe
