jones has this team playing really well so far this year, and if they keep it up through the sec schedule i think they have a legitiment chance.

Not happening. Please stop raising expectations for this team that just aren't realistic. They are improving but not a tourney team this year. This just leads to rant bitching when we finish 17-13. We're on the right track but slow down.

we certainly have a shot...the SEC is pretty weak this season outside of florida and mizzou, who are top 10. Ky is not even ranked. LSU has had an RPI around 30 so far, which is excellent. We have get to get some quality road wins. That will be the key. We need at least 2 or 3 good road wins to have a shot and need to beat Mizzou or Florida. That could be the recipe for a bid !

I'll be happy with the NIT this year. Next year however...

Stop with the tournament talk. They've played 2 quality opponents and lost both games. They will need some serious breaks go their way to reach .500 in the sec. NIT this year and we'll see about next year, next year.

If you mean NIT, they will need to win 10 conference games to make it. Maybe 9?

I just dont see it. If Hickey is out rest of year or keeps this up then definitely hell no.

We just dont have the starting power/depth quite yet. Some good players, just not enough. Next year we will be MARKEDLY improved, assuming Hickey gets his stuff together.

He won't be out the rest of the year, he was on the bench tonigh just not dressed out, which means it's probably some team rule like curfew or missing practice or something and not drugs or grades. He'll be back by the Auburn game, almost for sure.

not trying to sound holier than thou or anything but there are a lot of LSU fans who haven't seen anyone else in the SEC play apparently.

Not saying he will be out rest of year from this, just saying he's on that course being suspended 3x in just this season.

And beating the terrible SEC teams alone wont get us to the tournament. Sure we play USCe and MSU 2x, but beating RPI 200+ teams isn't going to help a tournament resume really at all. We need a few wins against the likes of OM, Mizzou, UK, UF, Bama, UT, A&M.

We could finish 9-9 with 1 win over one of those teams then just beat all the dregs of the conference and that wont be near enough to get in the big dance.

I was talking about the guy who said we need serious help to go .500. The SEC is not very good. There are literally 3 teams and everyone else. Alabama isn't as good as we thought. A&M is bad. Tennessee isn't as great as we thought.

I think he was talking about the statement that LSU will need breaks to go .500 in the SEC. LSU is in the top half of the SEC this year, not because they are very good but because the SEC is dreadfully bad this year

I think Elleshoe was directing that at the idea of us struggling to be .500 in SEC play, fwiw
