we certainly have a shot...the SEC is pretty weak this season outside of florida and mizzou, who are top 10. Ky is not even ranked. LSU has had an RPI around 30 so far, which is excellent. We have get to get some quality road wins. That will be the key. We need at least 2 or 3 good road wins to have a shot and need to beat Mizzou or Florida. That could be the recipe for a bid !

as long as you are registered for classes for next semester and are in good academic standing you can practice. You are considered part of the team. All you have to do is to be registered and be in good academic standing which obviously he is since he clearly graduated from the juco. Will help Tuba develop some the rest of this season.

In Trents first year in 2009, we won the SEC and beat Butler in the NCAA tourney...the next two years Butler made it all the way to the NCAA Championship game. The loss that year in the 2nd round was against North Carolina in Greensboro. It may as well have been a road game. I was there..maybe 200 LSU fans total.if Ty Lawson does not come off the bench and have a great 2nd half, we are on to the sweet 16. We gave UNC their best game in the tourney by far that season. Hurricane Katrina really hurt LSU basketball. we would have had D.J. Augustine at point (he went to texas). Losing Greg Monroe to Georgetown really hurt a lot.

Trent just did not run the style of play that a lot of kids like to play these days..run and fast break..so we didnt get a lot of really good athletes under him. Plus we lost Justin Hamilton to the NBA or we could have been really good this season. No one saw that coming. With Justin and Johnny and Shavon we would have had a really solid front line.

the incoming recruiting class will be the best one since we signed Shaq and Stanley Roberts and Mo Williamson and Harold Boudreaux and Randy Devall...Johnny will get it done...just be patient with him.
Its a night game against a solid ACC team in a nice stadium...granted i will have really good seats which helps but i came to the game vs. clemson in '96 and sat way up in the upper deck. I also sat in the upper deck in the comeback win vs. Ga. tech. Its also the only game that night...LSU football at night is hard to come by these days...especially against a good team...you have all day to get ready...weather is supposed to be pretty good ! Looking forward to being in that number ! Geaux tigers !!
There was stuff that happened last year and the year before but Trent ran a very tight ship and he was very tight lipped. The coaches did a good job of keeping things under wraps. I was tight with one of the assistants and TJ believed in not going public with kids issues and keeping them private. That was just Trents way. he just kept things quiet and handled everything internally. Hopefully Hickey will figure it out before its too late.

the bowl games are pathetic this year...some of the worst matchups i have ever seen. I would much rather play Clemson in the Peach than play NIU in the Orange or play Nebraska or even Wisconsin - 7-5- are you kidding me - in the rose bowl - thats just ridiculous. We got a really good matchup and its the only bowl game that night. Not on new years day when there are 10 other games. I remember when we were excited to get into the peach bowl a few years ago when we pummeled Ga. Tech in the 2nd half behind Rohan Davey...we took over that damn Dome ! Lets do it again new years eve - LSU football is special no matter who we play or where we play or when we play. Its LSU Fightin tiger football dammit ! Bring it New years eve - i will be there loud and proud !!
Went to the Swamp in '04 when Addai scored with 30 seconds left and we won 24-21. We were trailing the whole game and got the ball back around midfield with about 90 seconds left. Marcus randall engineered a great drive and Addai picked up almost all of the yards including the last 10 on a screen pass. We had a lot of fun and no problems at all plus florida gives LSU/away teams good seats - no upper deck nosebleeds like at auburn !
Manieri's achilles heel strikes again - he leaves guys in too long. Its been his biggest problem his whole career - he does not know when to pull out a struggling pitcher. Costs LSU again !
we still have a shot. His camp is quiet. Texas and Bama lead but Bama has two front court commits already for the following year. The other 3 schools i hear he is looking at are: LSU, Mizzou and Georgetown.
holy cow is he skilled ! Finishes everything around the rim and can shoot the 3. Looks every but as good as Anthony Davis from Kentucky. Reminds me of a taller version of Tyrus Thomas. If we get him and Martin or Bridgewater or Randle watch out !
We live in the near West end off 64. Many LSU grads have moved up here for work the past 10 years. Yes i like Richmond a lot and love Va. 90 miles to D.C. 90 miles to Ocean. 70 miles to mountains. 45 minutes to Williamsburg (2 great amusement parks in busch gardens and water country). We Get all 4 seasons and no traffic at all. Economy is good here. Schools are very good and not much crime. Easy to get anywhere on east coast in just a few hours. 4 hours to Philly. 4 hours to Charlotte. 3 hours to outer banks & great ocean spots there. 5 hours to myrtle beach. I love it !

As previously said - alex kline from recruit scoop is the source for the swilling commitment.
so this finally puts an end to the Swilling to LSU saga !
if we get odoh then he will play the 5 and JOB the 4 and pollard/coleman at the 3. Hammink can def play the point and backup hickey at that spot. We would be 2 deep at every position except center if we can land Odoh or Trocha.
Coleman visited when Trent was still the head coach. Assistant coach Brent Scott hosted him for the weekend and showed him around so it was def not during the transition. It was def before Johnson left.
no question that we would take both pollard and odoh. scholarships are only year to year now. The one advantage with courtney is that we can play him at the 4 if need be. Right now the way things stand we still have very little depth up front. Eddie can play a few minutes here and there but we have to have at least one more post player. two would be great but we need at least one more. If god forbid JOB or Godfrey gets hurt suddenly you are looking at basically a 4 guard lineup out there for some stretches of the game. Thats what killed us this year after JOB got hurt, Storm and Malcolm both were foul prone and sometimes Justin was by himself up front. No way you dont take both pollard and odoh if you can get them both.
Its still a little early for the schedule as most are not released till summer sometime. I went to the charleston classic this year and the game at coastal carolina. the charleston event was nice but not well attended. VCU maybe had 250 fans and that was the most of any school. Seton Hall probably had 200 or so. The only other LSU fans there were Eddies parents, Justins parents, Andre's family and I think Ralston had some family also. there were maybe 20 to 25 fans that i assume were from the charleston area. I sat with the families so i didnt really talk to any of the other fans. Hopefully we will get a decent tourney. There sure are a lot of them out there !

Godfrey was recruited by missouri state, minnesota, oregon state, green bay, miami and st. louis and VCU out of high school in addition to iowa st of course. he has gained 20 lbs since his sr. year of high school. His high school went 25-4 his sr year and were the 7th best team in the state.
I pretty much always knew where our coaches were because coach scott texted me regularly but out of respect for them and Trent not wanting people to know who they were recruiting i never posted anything on here about it. Scott was recently at the juco tourney in Hutchinson for 2 days and trent went to spain to visit with Geert and Shane right after the season ended. Coach Scott went to Pennsylvania to see Shane's team play last year. coach scott spent A LOT of time on the road recruiting. Thats how we got Johnny O'Bryant. the last year he spent a lot of time recruting Gathers. He really thought we were going to get him :(
i think we will get both hammink and coleman. think coleman has one more visit but seems like he wants to come back to louisiana.
there is a big kid up near here who can help next year. he is a senior. Good grades - just needs test score. I tried to get the previous coaching staff to come look at him but they never followed through. they would not even call his high school coach. he is not listed anywhere on espn, rivals or scout so i am not posting his name because he is under the radar. He ia a lot like Dieng, the center for louisville. Can anyone get Johnny to email me or call me - 804-502-3334 or wavevcu@yahoo.com ?
he said he will take at least one more visit but is still high on LSU. nothing wrong with a kid taking all his visits. He visited LSU, texas tech and OU already. I actually think its a good sign that a kid takes all his visits. that way when he compares them to LSU there will be no comparison and he will realize that Tiger Town is the place for him !

yes was recruited as a football player but chose hoops. he averaged 18 points per game as a sr. at scotlandville leading them to state championship his sr year. has 2 years of eligibility and can play right away.
