Homefield is what gives the confidence to pick the tigers. That is it the main thing.

Well, I've stopped watching the national shows because of this, but just like the political polsters, they may be backing off of an Alabama win closer to game time.
We'll see Saturday

Historically it hasn't. Alabama has won the matchup 59.5% of the time at home and has won the matchup 70.7% of the time when it is at Tiger Stadium or on a neutral field. Best chances we have generally had are in their stadium. I hope this year proves to be the exception to that.

I heard all that historical nonsense before the last game. It does not apply to this one. On paper and according to the eye test, this is a terrible matchup for the team from that state. Is there an obvious advantage of playing at home?? Absolutely. This year, it simply doesn’t matter.

Vegas has LSU favored anywhere from 4.5 to 6.5 just FYI

Obviously these are different teams, but homefield hasn't been much of an advantage for LSU in this game over the last nearly 20 years.

Saban was a big reason for that. From 2000-2006 LSU won 3 of 4 in TS. Through 2010, it was 4 of 6. From 2012 to 2020: 5 straight losses; won in 2022; lost in 2024.

Homefield works if the teams and coaches are closely matched. Not many coaches closely matched Saban.

Look at the series and two coaches.

Overall 58-27-5, 28-9-2 in TS

Bryant was 16-4 vs LSU, 8-1 in TS.

Saban was 13-5 vs. LSU, 6-2 in TS

Of course, there is no telling how things would have gone without those two coaches, but LSU vs Bama with every other coach is

29-18-5, 14-6-2 in TS

All that just because I find it interesting. Your point is correct, though; home field has not played well for us vs. Alabama.

I think this team, with our staff (a big key) playing at its best is just better than Bama and could beat them on the road.

This isn’t a Saban team. They don’t have that mental toughness and edge anymore. If this gets going in the wrong way for them, which will get Tiger Stadium into high gear, they will fold and we won’t frick around on offense like UT did. I’m not saying they WILL happen, but it’s definitely a possibility based on what we saw a few weeks ago.
