Whit Weeks=11 Total & 8 Solo
Harold Perkins=3 Total & 2 Solo

I like Whit, but he allowed several big runs vs Nicholls and several BIG runs vs South Carolina.

He's a liability in run defense right now, but he needs the experience on the field.

Perkins was a major disrupter yesterday. He was causing havoc all over. It allowed Swinson to get 3 sacks. Them going so hard after Perk allowed talented guys like Swinson and Jones to get in the backfield.

Last I checked 11 play on defense. It’s never just on one player. He got caught up in the flow but he’s not solely responsible for that long run.

I see people flocked to this thread to shite on him.

Gap integrity is an easy fix. As far as him narrowly missing a tackle or two…At least he’s there. Last season dudes were just running free.
It's constructive criticism. Shitting on someone is what many fans did to Jayden Daniels for over a year.

The truth is, SC was intentionally running at Whit. He has to maintain his gaps and he can't be so ready to rush the interior. He'll get better, but he was the cause for the only TD SC scored after halftime.

Completely agree with this! His lack of gap discipline led to the huge runs in both first and second half. He is getting much better but has to do a better job at this

To this point, our LBs haven’t been great by any means. I am however surprised at a few people shitting on Weeks. I get the fact that being our best LBr doesn’t make him a great LBr, but it’s pretty clear that we have more options when he is on the field. Some of you are saying he’s slow, who’s faster? Only Harold Perkins, that’s it.
For the third straight year we are changing our personnel around in the 3rd and 4th games still trying to figure out who we are! That’s not the LBrs fault. These guys could have been practicing at these specific positions for over 6 weeks now, but no, instead they are still getting acclimated to their new positions in our new defense.
I suspect these guys will continue to get better now that LSU seems to be settling on its personnel at LBr.
BTW, none, none of our LBrs are good enough to make a mistake and recover from it. If 7 makes a mistake on a read, he’s out of the play, just like 40 and 18.
For the guys shitting on Weeks, what would you do different? Who would you play? Who would you move?
I personally don’t think 18 is a SEC level football player, but apparently he knows what he’s supposed to do and works harder than the rest of the guys at his craft. It doesn’t make him a quality LBr, but I’m not going to shite on him. Besides, who else do we have? Who else can take that spot from him? Apparently no one.
I’ll leave you guys with this: at least we now appear to be settled at the LBr position and everyone will benefit from that! Now if we could just settle on our best 5/6 secondary players and our best RB and let them carry the load we may become a pretty good team barring injury.

He also was solely responsible for giving up the huge TD run to put them back up.

I guess you miss sage Ryan trip on his own feet on that play coming downhil

I get that, he was awful. But DE’s lose containment often, and that’s not the end of the line on defense. Usually, safeties are the final line of containment.

To answer your question, the fact that there wasn't a safety with more than 3 tackles against a heavy run team is pretty telling.

Whit got caught inside way too often, but safety help was very limited.

I agree WW is a pretty good LB and I would like to see Penn replaced. But, on the one play when WW got sucked inside it was 3rd and 1/2 a yard to go for first down and he wasn’t going to prevent the first even if RB went right off tackle. Certainly should have maintained the outside edge but he was very active and he will learn.

What is the point you are trying to make? You thought he was going to be perfect?
He has terrible gap discipline but he hustles. He had a ton of tackles and gave up two TDs yesterday
