Mainly bc I have friends that went to every school you mentioned besides the black ones and Loyola.
LSU is on a different level.

I travel all over the state, have for several years.
I see LSU stuff everywhere I go.... Hats, shirts, stickers, decals, license plates.
I don't see that with the saints.
Several ohers have said same thing.

As I said that's not 100% accurate, but a gap that wide shows that the saints are obviously more popular. I don't have a Facebook either, so that's not even really relevant.

the saints have tons of fans as well that are from Mississippi, Alabama and the florida panhandle because that is the only NFL team close by.

If you want to compare, if I went around the entire state and tallied the number of LSU decals on cars to saints decals and the number of people wearing LSU apparel to Saints apparel on a random day, LSU wins easily, probably 5 to 1.

This isn't the case in NOLA, but as a state LSU is number one and it really isn't even close. there's a reason it's the NEW ORLEANS Saints and the LOUISIANA State University Tigers.

If you offered me the licensing rights for LSU football or the Saints for Louisiana, I would take the Saints.

Baton Rouge I would take LSU.

Nationwide... Saints, no question. College football is a regional phenomenon, not national.

Facebook says its the saints and it's not even close. Saints - 2.9 million likes LSU - 760k likes LSU football - 250k likes I understand people outside of LA can like the Saints but the same can be said about LSU.

Using Facebook as a reference isn't a good one in this case. It has been suggested they could rename the Saints the Gulf Coast Saints and be accurate. I travel to Destin Florida on the regular and can tell you all their stores are stocked full of Saints gear. Saints also have Most of Mississippi and Alabama locked up as their NFL football team of choice.

If the question were whose more popular overall the Saints win hands down and it isn't even debatable with the popularity of the NFL. But the question was IN LOUISIANA. Honestly if this were 2005 or before I would say LSU. Now I put it as a toss up they no-one can honestly say they know the answer to.

Right now I give the saints a slight edge but not by much. You can scream bandwagon all you want and you would be right. But having a good run and bandwagon fans still makes them more popular whether you like it or not. But i don't know for sure just my opinion

lol with pretty much posted the same point with you leaning LSU and me leaning Saints. It's kinda to judge by who has the most gear sold because honestly how many LSU fans aren't Saints fans also.

I know what you're trying to say. But this is irrelevant for a number of reasons. People go to LSU and they get the gear, wether they're football fans or not. Students get free bumper stickers at orientation. Also, I've already said that people are more passionate about LSU and more likely to show that passion. And it hasn't exactly been popular to be a saints fan until recently.

I know FB isn't the perfect way to calculate this, but frankly its better than any reasoning anyone else has posted.

This is completely irrelevant. Google confirmation bias. Then google TV ratings. The Saints outdraw LSU in Louisiana. An NFL regular season game outdraws most bowl games, period.

Well this zero sum stupidity has been mildly diverting, but I'm out.

Here's a summary for those who don't wanna read the whole thing (and you shouldn't):

Q: Who is more popular in Louisiana, the Saints or LSU?

Saints fans: Well, here are some numbers indicative of the Saints' popularity in various ways

LSU fans: IM TELLING YAWL I SEE MORE LSU BUMPER STICKERS WHEN IM DRIVING TO SICILY ISLAND
