Which Ranters Attended the LSU vs ND game in 1998?

I was there. Campus looked good, but I was amazed at how very little tailgating was happening and how quite the stadium was

We were there. Campus was beautiful. We had big tailgate, several big pots of Red beans and lots of beer. Zydeco jamming. We represented well. Domers were pissed because we stood and cheered whole game. Very subdued fans.

I did. We flew into Chicago on Friday & drove to South Bend on Saturday. Their fans were nice. Had a great time. I do remember it was very cold. If was 75 degrees in Lafayette & snowing in Chicago when we landed.

I was there. Stayed in Chicago where we had a few snow flurries the day before. Got up the next day and bused to South Bend. Great to see all the historic things at ND I had only seen on TV. Froze my arse off in the stadium.

Very disappointing season overall for LSU (Lou Tepper anyone?), but it was a GREAT game. ND was ranked in the top 10 while LSU was 4-5 after starting the season in the top 10.

I remember no one could kick a damn extra point without it being blocked (both teams); Faulk fumbled and had it returned for a ND touchdown. He immediately responded by returning the ensuing kickoff for a LSU TD. LSU led most of the game until the very end. Herb Tyler gets hurt late and Craig Nall comes off the bench and damn near leads LSU all the way down the field for a possible win. Of course, Tepper's defense was so bad that year they probably would have let ND drive for the game winner even though they would have had only about 30 seconds left on the clock.

Our WR dropped a sure touchdown in the near corner of the end zone on an impeccable throw. It may have been Abram Booty. As a native Midwesterner and LSU alumnus, that was a bitter day under steely gray skies.

I was there. Great game.

It was a great game but like that season it was a major disappointment.


I've never forgiven Lou Tepper for anything that he did here but him ruining Kevin Faulk's senior season really burned my arse. That team was very talented and just got horrible coaching from the entire staff.

Fantastic trip, great campus - all I hoped it would be. We still talk
about it. There was a pancake house down from out hotel that had
killer food and a great atmosphere.
We headed the pep band off on their way in and made them play
"Hey Fighting Tigers" - if only we had won the game!

I was there. Exciting game. Kevin Faulk ran wild but we lost in a shootout. I have been going to away games all my life. This is the nicest we have ever been treated at an away game. We flew in to Chicago and stayed at a hotel in South Bend. We went to several bars, night clubs and restaurants the night before and the night of the game. We were even partying with Paul Horuning for a while. The day of the game we tailgated all day on campus. The locals could not have been friendlier. It was a great experience except for the fact that we lost the game. Nicest fans in the SEC - Texas A&M. Worst experience with fans in the SEC - R-Kansas.
