I have to admit, you are correct in each point you bring up, but he does something to the team. every team he goes to he gets a ring.

He is correct in what he brings up, but what he omitts is just as telling. What Shaq brings to a team is exactly what he is paid MILLIONS of dollars for, superior post play. He is huge, this allows him to dominate the post. Hating on him and saying he is just big while lauding guys for being quick and agile (AKA having good jump shots/passes) is just masking what I believe are personal preferences/biases.

Shaq can rebound, back down low and score from the post. These are all "BASKETBALL SKILLS" which merit him mention among the all time great basketball players.

ETA: Jesus! I forgot his DEFENSE. The man was a machine. No basketball skills!

well thats because you are obviously an ignorant fool

he only threw 8 ints in 2006 while leading the BCS conferences in QB rating all without having a running game. He completed 68+% of his passes in the process

There was some hard feelings many years ago about some comments made by Bert Jones after he left LSU. My wife still doesn't like Bert Jones.

Me, on the other hand, that's a different story. I idolized Jones. He was the LSU quarterback when I was first old enough to follow LSU football, and I was a huge Baltimore Colts fan because of Jones. I remained a Colts fan even after they moved to Indianapolis, and they are still my second or third favorite pro team after the Saints.

I'm trying to remember what it was that he said that got Tiger fans' noses out of joint, but I'm not really sure. I think he may have complained about the alternating QB time that they used when he was here, but who can blame him. He was an All American and still had to split time with another QB.

There may have been something else that he complained about, but I just can't remember. Do any of you old timers recall what it was?

If you honestly think yes, we can't really continue on with the discussion. He's a great NBA player because of his size, it was in his genes, that's not talent, sorry.

And as we all know, every big man who ever played the game became a HOF'er.

Exellent points

That was it... his whole argument is simply to play the best players. Alternating offensive teams on every drive was not a very smart move, especially when you have Bert Jones as QB.

all NBA players are great because of their size. If Michael Jordan had been 6'0, you never would have heard of him. If Larry Bird had been 5'11, you never would have heard of him.

I said basketball talent for a reason, can he shoot free throws well? Can he shoot anything outside of 5 feet well? Is he a great passer? No. If he was 6'9", would he still be as good? If you honestly think yes, we can't really continue on with the discussion. He's a great NBA player because of his size, it was in his genes, that's not talent, sorry.

Jesus Christ. Talk about looking for the dark lining in the silver cloud.

So Ryan Clark and Robert Royal this week on CH 4 NOLA said that Nick Saban was the reason for the success that LSU is having sending players to the NFL.

Ya'll don't pull for them either? just saying

Not the same. When given the option of siding up with LSU or Saban and the kid chooses to pull for his alma mater to lose that game...most will have a problem with that. Let me ask this....the actual game is taking place...LSU/Bama...the camera scans the Bama sidelines and focuses in on several former Tigers there giving support to their former coach. You got a problem with it now?

It's these type of threads that show us all 2 things:

- 54 days is a long time without college sports
- we realize the true rantards and find out some have even been holding back on us

Because he rooted for Ohio St. in the '07 NCG. Oh yeah, and his son was a starting WR for OSU in that game. Rooting for his son vs. his alma mater...what a dick.

Maybe he invested some of his signing bonus in a business. Nothing wrong with supporting a business.
