that flag is an extremely negative symbol to a lot of people.
Because a bunch of for-profit race baiting "activists" said it is.

Nah, I was able to figure that one out all on my own.

You always bring so much to the table. Such an angry, yet sheltered little liberal.

The problem with your little conspiracy theory is that no one stands to gain from the perpetration of this supposed farce. Honestly who stands to gain by pretending that people are incensed by the symbolism of the flag of a now-defunct country.
It is possible that people look at that flag (as historically inaccurate a representation as it is) and they're reminded of the types of groups that have used it to symbolize hatred for black people.
This doesn't mean people shouldn't have the right to display it. But let's not pretend the only reason people find it offensive is because some vast liberal conspiracy told them to.

The point of 'Dega is to be as trashy as possible, who cares

Are you really saying that none of the race baiting activists of the past 25 years have profited off of instilling an us against everybody mentality in certain communities and creating blind outrage over every issue they possibly can?

If you think "race baiting" is the reason that the confederate battle flag is seen as a symbol of oppression and white supremacy (and of white trash, incidentally), then you're clearly the one who is sheltered.

I'm not saying no person or politician one has ever used negative public sentiment and division to his advantage (that's the sole basis of Trump's campaign).
But to assume that it's systemic, or that it happens every time an offended party raises his voice, is logically flawed.
Just because you don't agree that the flag is a negative symbol, that doesn't diminish the fact that some people do. People can and do come to their own opinions independently, believe it or not.

Not often in cases like this.

So if the players on the team you are rooting for and trying to represent express they don't like the purple and gold version of the Confederate flag and you still fly it proudly then what does that make you? It makes you trashy. Just some a-hole looking for attention anyway you can get it.

Why? Because you don't agree? Because you have swallowed whole this notion that anytime a protestor shows up at a campaign event for your favorite candidate, they're paid to be there?
Where do you draw the distinction? Were civil rights activists in the 1960's paid to protest?

I was at the Richmond race the week before and only saw a damn Alabama setup. This is too far north for Louisiana folks.
