Lange had an unbelievable year in 2015 as did Nola in 2013. Both were undefeated in the regular season. I think Lange lost at all in 2015. Ben McDonald was incredible in 1989. It is hard to say who was better. McDonald also had to face more livelier bats due to the rule changes that deadened th bats when Nola pitched and as Lange faces at LSU now, so all of that needs t be taken into consideration. Louis Coleman and Anthony Ranaudo were key components of LSU's 2009 National Championship. If you love ok at longevity in the Major Leagues, you have to look at Russ Springer as he lasted 18'years and Will Harris for what he has done in the Majors. Smoke did not use him as much as a pitcher, though. I can remember Nola throwing 7 innings of no hit ball in 2014. They were all great n their own way.

Lange had some bad luck in a few games he pitched last year early on, and didn't get much support. He probably started pressing a little too much, but settled down later on in the season. He can make a case for this conversation if he comes back this season and has a year like he did in 2015.
His BB and K's were almost exactly the same in both years, his ERA just went up some. He wasn't far from winning 10+ games again.

Chad Jones shouldn't even be in the conversation, but I'd be lying if I didn't get excited as frick everytime he came in and struck people out. one of the best athletes at LSU ever imo.

Fun fact. I caught Nola in high school. Kid could have competed at a mid major as a 16 year old.

Big ben wouldnt be considered better than nola if he wasnt hitting near triple digits at lsu. i think alot of fans underrate nola because he doesnt have that 97 mph fastball. He controlled it way better than. Ben

I've caught Nola a couple of times through college and after. What's ridiculously scary to me is that as good as he was at LSU, his stuff now is about 10x better. Everytime ive caught him he has improved immensely. Can't wait to see where he is in 5 years.

Ken Schuetz, 1966. Winning pitcher in both games of a double header beating FSU then #3 in nation. Came back in relief second game...

Ben was nasty in high school much less college. He single handily ruined Mark Johnsons career on a Sunday in College Station.
Peever had the greatest season I think. He was completely dominating in an era where bats were much less restrictive.

quote:that would be a hard throwing lefty name s Greg Patterson who pitched for Lousteau Ford or something like that. He was filthy but his fastball didn't have much movement.

quote:Curtis, Paul Byrd, Ogea and Mike Sirotka. Great pitchers. Ogea was the most clutch. Check out him in WS Games in college and MLB.
Curtis Leskanic, check his stats

Yeah it's hard to make professional hitters look foolish but he does it on a weekly basis. Very grateful I got to see him pitch in person for three years.

quote:he struggled last year. He struggles early in games. If you get him it's usually early. He isn't on McDonalds level in terms of filth or velocity. He has better command, but look at the number of innings as a comparison that from their respective eras. It was expected that they go 7-8. Now its 5-6.
