This was true; however, the BOS voted in 2016 to change their policy and approved a statute for Maravich. Advocate article. There were some political influences to make this happen.
So the question does become now, where is the statute? Does anyone know what the holdup is? Wouldn’t think LSU would have a hard time finding donors for this.

There is a Pete Maravich statue. It has been in storage for years now. No idea what the plan for unveiling it is. Mind boggling to me!

They may be waiting to see what ends up happening with the facility improvements Wade and now Mulkey are pushing for.
I generally don’t like going too statue happy but Pete, Augustus, and Burrow all will 100% get them over the medium term future

Interesting to know. Had never heard they actually finished creating it.
The speculation was that it was going to be done back in 2020 during the game against Ole Miss when LSU celebrated the 50th anniversary of Pete surpassing the scoring record. His widow (Jackie) and sons were on hand for the game and a halftime presentation. Turned out that was all they did and didn't do the statue at that time.

No clue. Haven’t heard any talk of him getting one or it being proposed. Not really sure why he would get one; however, Sue Gunter has one and her résumé isn’t really any more impressive than Brown’s. But I also thing there were other reasons as to why one was done for her.
