There's absolutely no guacamole with your meal there and I would actually recommend eating the meat without any sauce. Their meat is fantastic

Moontower Inn is a good outdoor drinking spot if you are in the area and the weather is good.

I'm not joking. I worked in Houston for 6 months last year and ate at a bunch of BBQ restaurants and that was my experience at half of them.

There is a A LOT of shitty BBQ in this city. Always has been.

But over the past few years it's gotten A LOT better. Killens BBQ is one of the best in the state, mentioned with Franklin, La BBQ, Pecan Lodge and others across the state.

Gatlin's just reopened, Blood Bro's is incredible, Roegel's has a beef rib that rivals Killens.

Understand this-when someone says Texas BBQ, they mean Central Texas BBQ: cooked over oak, usually brisket, sausage or beef ribs, with little fuss to go with it. It's about as honest as you can get.

I've never encountered a BBQ sauce that's anything near salsa, I've eaten BBQ all over this state, and guacamole with BBQ doesn't sound half bad. Afterall, the Texas way of BBQing was pretty much learned from Mexican cowboys.

I love Mexican bbq

Nothing wrong with some smoked brisket on a homemade tortilla and some beans

Seriously.

This cat probably ate at Pappas BBQ a few times or Grand Prize if he was working out at the plants and is categorizing all BBQ from Texas as those poor excuses.

Not in Houston, but Franklin's brisket may be the best dish I've ever had in my life. Killen's has better accoutrements and a better selection, but that Franklin's brisket is un-fricking-real

My only dining experience in Houston was Ninfa's on Navigation before a Stro's game this summer. I'm staying near stadium and would prefer to not have to drive. Anyone eating/drinking at a place near the stadium?

If you're stayin' downtown....for Mexican food try Ninfa's on Navigation, or Irma's on Chenevert.

Treebeards on the Square is good. Stanton's over by the Courthouse has prob'ly the best burgers in town.

Get outta' downtown and try the pork chops at Perrry's. Or down to Kemah...Amadeus Italian Restaurant. Hard to beat for Italian.

Go down to Galveston....Number 13 Steakhouse, it's at the Pelican Rest Marina.
