Of all the places we have in Houston Pappadeaux's should be like #157 on the list of places to go.

I have no idea what restaurants are in Houston, but pappadeauxs definitely has to be #157. Yelp is your friend in times of need

If you wanted a casual seafood place nearby-Goode Company Seafood.

If you want to splurge a little I'd head to State of Grace.

Other options in the nearby are Underbelly, The Hay Merchant, Helen Greek Food, El Tiempo, Liberty Kitchen might be a bit of a drive but has a lively atmosphere.

Helena not Helen if you are talking about the Rice Village place.

Rice Village is full of great places. Helena was already mentioned. Local has fantastic sandwiches. Torchy's is a pretty nice taco spot. For a more sit down dinner go to Sud Italia, Coppa Osteria, or Cyclone Anya's. Skip Punk's!!!!! Thai Village and Shiva are also good ethnic options.

Outside of Rice Village you can't go wrong with El Real, Hugo's, Underbelly, Max's Wine Dive, Laredo Taqueria, Ibiza, Rainbow Lodge.

If you are willing to drive seriously consider going to Killen's BBQ (or steakhouse) the creamed corn and bread pudding are fantastic.

If anyone wants specific recommendations please ask

Helen Greek Food and Wine

It's actually Helen. Look it up. And yes, you can go wrong at Max's Wine Dive. Your list reads like Texas Monthly's Houston dining guide from 2010.

Ahh I just walked by there the other day, and I've seriously had a ton of great meals at Max's. Sorry about the wrong name and if you had a bad experience. Not sure why you are acting like any of these restaurants aren't still popular

Drive for the creamed corn and bread pudding? Lol. Texas BBQ is way over rated. Their bbq sauce is like salsa and they serve guacamole with your meal.

Goode Company Seafood. Get the Campechana (sp?) as an apperizer to share. I believe they have some of the best reasonably priced seafood in Houston. If you want to splurge and want a good steak, it is hard to beat Pappa's Steakhouse.
