Absolute masterclass this weekend. Saving Evans and Cowan for Sunday was a POWER move.

Our bullpen was great this weekend outside of Shores.

Also, this team at the box is just different. If we grab a national seed. We aren’t losing at home.

Jay's a great coach. Pinch hitting Beck on Friday was enormous too.

So you watched some of Saturday’s game but not all of it?

This was a great weekend, but Saturday was a disaster from the entire bullpen, other than Grant Fontenot surprisingly.

It just worked out that way.

Don’t think for a second had LSU had a 1 or 2 run lead on Saturday that Jay would not have pitched Cowan or Evans. That most definitely would have happened.

The cards just worked out with Tennessee getting an extra run Friday so he pulled Cowan in favor of Mayer. And we got blown out Saturday.

Won a title two years ago.. has us ranked 2nd this year and looking strong going into postseason. Who would you rather have coaching us right now? Honest question

I guess my post is being taken wrong. I am happy with JJ and where LSU is now. I dont think we can win it all this year due to not having dominant pitching. I like the OPs confidence although im not sold on a ship run yet.

that was my thought two years ago going into Omaha, the arms came through when we needed it most, and the bats came alive at just the right time too, you never know

You realize we should have won the Texas series in Austin right ?

How much college baseball do you watch outside of LSU? Just curious who you’re comparing us to

What? Jay made the decisions.

Well, yeah? He would have put the closers in the game with the lead. Half this fan base wanted Evans in the game when it was 3-2. Instead, Jay saved him for game 3 and it worked.

Why are you saying this like it wasn't consious decisions Jay made lol? "The cards just worked out" Once Tenn took a 2-0 lead, and LSU couldn't put a run up in the bottom half, Jay made the correct decision to pull Cowan and save him for Saturday/Sunday.

It was a 1 run game in the 8th. Half this board wanted Evans to come in right there. Instead, Jay made the (correct) call to save Evans for Sunday. We were also a Jared Jones tough play away from getting out of the 8th on Saturday down 2.

The amount of people sitting around me Saturday night who bitched that "Jay is throwing this game away" by not bringing them in was off the charts.

You need to watch more college baseball and not just LSU.

Only 3 weeks left in the regular season and we are ranked #2 in the country behind a team we had beat.

I remember in Game two vs Florida on the MCWS final two years ago. He let the bullpen get absolutely shelled and basically conceded game two so he could set up best for game 3. Lose the battle, win the war.

I mean we have the 3rd best ERA in the conference in overall play and 2nd best in conference play.

12th best nationally.

Maybe not dominant but definitely good enough.

Ehhhhh…

Schmidt and Rizy weren’t good at all. If Williams had been put in the game before them, we probably escape with the game still close in the 8th.

Mayers did enough to keep us alive Friday. Fontenot actually looked pretty good in his inning. Premeaux was ok, but we all know he’s hard to rely on consistently. Williams gave up the winning runs in G2, but it’s hard to fault him completely when he did enough to get out of the inning if we had made plays defensively.

As a group- just waaayyyyy too many walks. The next step for this team is 2-4 guys out of the pen getting to the point where they get rid of the walks. We can live with contact, because many of those will be fly and ground outs. Competitive pitches that are a little outside to bait a swing are fine, but we need to get rid of 4 and 5 pitch walk at bats where batters have no incentive to even try to swing because everything is so far outside.

This wasn't a have to have it series. Winning 1 of the 3 wouldn't have put us in a spiral where we couldn't control our destiny to be a top 8 seed (which is the only thing that really matters).
