Over the last 10 years (2015-2024), Clemson's opening game record in football is 9-1.

You got some bad info

Dabo is 1-3 in his last 4 openers

If LSU plays their asses off and loses a close game, it will be different than the last several years. We can legit play great and lose this one. That’s what I’m looking for…more performance than result. In the era of a 12 game playoff, a close loss wouldn’t be a deal breaker. Stay focused throughout the season, get to the playoffs, and whip Clemson in the rematch. That’s IF they beat LSU initially of course.

If LSU were to win ... It wouldn't take but about 2 days before a few of the LSU players would start running their brand new Dodge Chargers into the trees around the campus .

Kelly winning an opener would be a nice change of pace. I want to see a fired up team hitting on all cylinders instead of looking disinterested and unprepared.

What's funny is the talking heads on SiriusXM College Sports said that if Clemson or Ohio State win their openers, you can go ahead and Sharpie them into the playoff bracket.

They didn't say the same for LSU or Texas.

You haven’t been paying attention. A large portion of the media has said they have Penn State as their preseason #1.

The media is who votes in the AP Poll.

Like it or not I’d be shocked if anyone but Penn State or Texas is the Preseason #1 team.

Yeah they should be #1 if they win. But what if texas beats OSU? Then I think they should be no1

Because both teams play a soft schedule and shouldn’t lose two more games.

LSU can beat Clemson, lose 2 SEC games and get in. If LSU loses they can only afford one SEC loss.

Penn state literally lost their best 2 players. They won’t be # 1

If LSU beats Clemson, that means they’re top 3 team in the country.

Not #1. And I don’t know what the AP rankings will be.

But winner of the LSU-Clemson game will be in every conversation about the CFP/Natty all season long.

And if they beat FLA-OM-SCAR after Clemson… get to 6-0?

All LSU all the time.

Unprepared? Maybe, but…. Uninterested? C’mon, man - it’s a brand new season, big game, it’s enthusiastic college kids-
That’s a really crappy take.

Clemson won’t be 2 or 3 that’s silly.

Ohio State
Texas
Penn State
Georgia
ND

They’ll be top 10 as will be LSU.

But I do believe if LSU wins especially if it’s convincingly, they’ll shoot up from 8 to 4 or 3. Whoever wins that Ohio St Texas game will be #1 for a while.

Rankings don’t matter until November. It’s been that way for over a decade now. Nothing to get excited about. Win the games, if you do lose then you better not get blown out. Stay in that top 10 range and you’re good.

This is where you tell me I was right with Texas and Penn State #1 and #2 in the AP Poll edging them out by 5 total points and 2 first place votes
