Not going to lie, at first I thought that was a movie poster for Everybody's All American. Jim Taylor sort of looks like a young Dennis Quaid

This is a good point. I have a purple Russell Athletic jersey like we wore in the 90s and a Nike jersey from what we wear now. The 90s jersey is a little darker shade of pruple but nothing crazy.
Just look at Hodson photos vs Burrow photos. The jersey purple is FAR lighter on Burrow than Hodson.

That LSU cat on the card looks like he has a case of the rickets followed up with a mean streak of the arse dry heave's.

I’ve been saying it’s yellow for years only to get mocked and ridiculed. Still say purple and gold, but it’s yellow. Saints are gold

there is a spectrum for purple and we are on the bluer end of the purple spectrum
the same goes for gold, there is a wide spectrum of color that is considered to be gold and we are at the yellower end of that spectrum
you could say we wear a shade that is a blueish variation of purple with a yellowish variation of gold
or conversely could say we wear a shade that is a purplish variation of blue with a goldish variation of yellow
it is all the same thing, of course we call it "purple and gold" as opposed to "blue and yellow" for traditional reasons.
It's just that old gold and deep purple don't look as modern or have as much pop (especially on TV) as the more blueish and yellowish variation we wear these days.
would be cool to wear the old retro colors one game a year or every other year just to wear some old retro looking uniforms
personally I like that we wear blue and yellow, because it looks better, and that we call it purple and gold, because that is tradition and sounds cooler and that Purple and gold are the colors of royalty and are the school colors.
