re: What’s your all-time batting lineup for the Tigers?

When I said lineup, I was thinking of a starting 9 ( with DH). So one per position. Considering lineup construction with speed, power, average, L/R, etc.

Why? Replacing with a first team all American with better defense and much more speed is an option. Especially when you have more than enough power in the lineup already.
1. You still need a DH. Are you not going to include perhaps the single greatest batting season in school history?
2. You said batting lineup in your OP.
3. That lineup will score so many runs, whatever you give up on defense will be irrelevant

CF Crews
2B Walker
3B White
1B Furniss
C Cresse
SS Larson
LF Deichmann
DH Dean
RF Mahtook
Nobody wants to pitch to this team.

Fair point. Never said Larson shouldn’t be on the team. Just said Bregman should be considered. One of the best ever at LSU. That’s it.

Bergman at SS, Larson at DH. Boom you can have both

put that team up against any other all-time team.
And if you add our best pitchers, don't see any other college all star team that could beat us.

So glad you put Mouton in LF. People don’t realize how good he was. Still hit the longest home run I’ve ever seen. So much power.

Mitchell over Belle in the OF? You’re an idiot.

Belle was arguably the best position player in LSU history. Being batshit crazy hurts his legacy a ton.

Didn’t he hit to roof of the old dorms beyond left field at the old Alex Box?

I didn’t list Belle because I never saw him play a single pitch of baseball at LSU. Not a knock against him.
I probably should have put Mouton over Deichmann but I guess recency bias won out.
I almost put Nola at SS instead of Larson

This is extremely hard at this point... This is who I would start when factoring in overall offensive and defensive ability, along with intangibles...
1. CF - Dylan Crews
2. 2B - Todd Walker
3. 3B - Brandon Larson
4. 1B - Eddy Furniss
5. DH - Brad Cresse
6. RF - Lyle Mouton
7. LF - Mikie Mahtook
8. C - Micah Gibbs
9. SS - Alex Bregman
Furniss, Walker, and Crews are probably the only absolute locks. Larson kinda has to be either SS, 3B, or DH. Hard to make a case for anyone over Cresse whether it be at C or DH.
Mahtook's 2011 season is sneakily, arguably the most impressive single offensive season in school history when you combine average, power, steals, and defense when compared to the rest of the team, league, and country because of the inept equipment used from 2011-2014. I would say it's almost impossible to not have him in the top 3 outfielders.
Those are my top 6 choices.
I like Gibbs at catcher with Cresse at DH. Gibbs is better at glove, arm, contact, and eye. I don't want to sacrifice defense at catcher.
Same with shortstop. I don't want to sacrifice defense wby putting Larson there and Tommy White at 3rd. I want either Bregman, Aaron Hill, or Russ Johnson at short. I'm taking Bregman mainly just off eye test (probably coupled slightly with pro career production). They are pretty much splitting hairs.
The 3rd outfield spot is very tough. Joey Belle is probably the most talented but I'll pass on his attitude. Lyle Mouton was an overall beast of a hitter with a rocket arm. Jon Zeringue, Blake Dean, Ryan Patterson, and Mason Katz are all in the discussion though.

Bregman played with the all time worse bats in college ball.
