its a program with few donors and that's who they wanted. If people don't like it perhaps they should support the program more so we don't have to shop in the bargain bin for guys like Johnny.
This is almost inexplicably stupid.

if it weren't for political bull shite it would have been a very successful coup. That blood is on the hands of Alexander.
Leaks from within Joe's department got this story out two weeks early, and allowed the politicians to insert themselves. Joe botched it.

Both were viewed as good if not great hires at the time.
I get that, but they were both failures. Three chances and three bad hires. Ever hear the phrase the trend is your friend?
I don't know why you think the permanent divisional opponents and Thanksgiving day failures are funny. Joe was very public that they were not good for LSU, and he failed to get anything done.

No Sankey did. What in the hell did you want Joe to do? Make Florida stop acting like a bunch of spoiled children?
Look Joe, you should have been in front of the media on Tuesday with a simple statement about how LSU and Louisiana understands hurricanes, and presenting alternatives to ensure the game was played on or near the scheduled date. You just suck at timing. You go public when you shouldnt, and dont when you should. You show no control over your athletic department or your boosters. Get better at your job.

The biggest problem with Alleva is his misses concerning hiring head coaches.
Posted on 10/13/16 at 10:08 am to MegaTiger3
The biggest knock on Joe is he doesn't stand his ground and know when to say "enough is enough".
i think he can be too nice at times. He rolled over for the former players when the basketball search happened.
That shitbag softball coach from Bama used him as a moist towellette.
Joe got his hand slapped when he tried to fire Miles last year when Miles deserved it, and this season could have went much differently if we're sitting here today with Jimbo as our head coach.
Then this FL debacle, which I know is NOT HIS FAULT. But he should have gotten in front of every camera he could have BEFORE it all went down the way it did, and said "we're trying to make this game happen every which way, but UF doesn't want to make it happen." It would have put FL on the defensive, and possibly put some pressure from the media/league to make a decision once the cat was out of the bag. Now LSU looks bad, and we look like Johnny come latelys trying to tell our side of the story after everyone bought into Foley's line of bullshite. And it's because Foley jumped out there first, and the media ran with it.
The man has done a good job though and I upvoted your post.
If he handled himself a little bit more like you saw in that presser on Monday, he would be golden.

not really. If one of the program's biggest ambassadors and donors, Shaq, is going to bat for Johnny Jones, your hands are kind of tied.

The leaks were from Les' people. There's a reason Dingman got sent packing the same day Les did.

What exactly can he do? Thanksgiving is A&M's call as its their home day. Joe said there would never be a home game in Tiger Stadium on Thanksgiving and there is not. The permanent east opponent does not have enough support from the other schools. Again...what can he do? We're one of the few teams that gets screwed in that deal, the others could give a shite or benefit from it.

Does Shaq still support JJ as Head Coach? Before he was hired we all had big hopes for him, but after last season I can't imagine Shaq wanting him as his son's college coach.

He's been perceived as being weak when it comes to representing LSU's rights with regards to any League issue. As in he would have never done what Foley did, and right or wrong for a lot of reasons, Foley was pushing Fla.'s best interests & Foley/Fla. won. He's also perceived by some as being responsible for the prostitution of Tiger Stadium, as all it is now is money machine & many of its old, cherished traditions have been sacrificed for the cause of making more & more money off it. Too, if it's been said once here, it's been said a 1000 times: he needs to grow a set of balls.

So Scott Rabalais' source was Les Miles? I always assumed it was a calculated move from the AD?

Pat Murphy was here on campus for 3 days and then got "Homesick" and went back to Bama. That's not Joe's fault...

I do agree there are way too many Ads in the stadium, but what old cherished traditions would you want back?

having it leak did not benefit the AD whatsoever.

You assumed that because Rabalais as much as said it. Joe was the leak.

Why would Miles leak a story to Scott that he was coaching for his job? Why would Alleva negotiate with Sexton without being on the same page with his boss before beginning the negotiations? Why would Alleva alter the buyout provision on Chavis' contract after he signed it?

Pretty simple....you don't mess with anybody's career for your self-preservation and/or pc reasons. He literally fricked over a coach for no reason. Not to mention the players on that team too. He fricked them all over due to political correctness, nothing more. He is a shite stain of a person and that alone is reason enough for that pos to be ridiculed.
But his time here at LSU....hired JJ and Caldwell, two stupid hires even before the shite show they have displayed.
Both make more base salary than a NC head coach and Caldwell made as much overall as that coach until this past year. How the hell does that happen? Oh yeah, PC.
Giving Miles a raise after the '12 season. F that. Alleva should have called the quitter's bluff.
And the gameday experience is nothing like it was 20 years ago. People bitch about empty seats and people leaving early, then point the finger at the administration.
The only complaint about JA on the Fla fiasco is that he should have been in front of Foley with the media instead of allowing Foley to create the narrative.

He did mess up last year's attempt to fire Miles, so I understand the hate with that; but now he's standing up for the BR comunity over this Florida mess, and I really like that!
As for your list:
At the time the Jones hire looked good. Memphis was pretty good while he was there, He was sucessful at West Texas, plus he was the star returning from the golden years, the media loves to talk about that.
I'll give you botching the miles mess.
Caldwell was a good coach and now she's a good coach in the Pro's, we missed out. Johnson looked good on paper, he took Stanford, where it's hard to recruit, to the big dance.
I don't live in BR, so I don't know about Murphy.
Playing on Thanksgiving? Some players may not like it, but it's great exposure, kind of like playing on New Year's Day, but with less competition!
There isn't a AD in the league that can get rid of permenent cross divisional games.
I can't remember a year where I haven't seen some home night games on tv. There was a time when ESPN insisted on day games in Tiger Stadium, but they seem to have changed their tune. CBS has a contract with the league office, I don't think Alleva can do much about that.
Played by Foley? He's digging in his heels against Foley which is the reason he's getting heat from the national media like PTI. It was Stankey that got played.
I'm not sure about an apology, but wasn't it the the Duke Lacrosse team that did the screwing?

After the news breaks, let's see what happens to the noise.

We gave up a home game (next season) and are playing 5 days before the A&M game. That's another frick up for Joe Alleva.
