Are they both just to overweight to play or is something else up with them? Thought Shelvin was supposed to be having a good camp and would be an impact player this season but he isn't even getting into the rotation at all.

Donovaughn Campbell came in as a highly regarded recruit a few years ago, got PT his freshman year, but now can't get on the field either even with all the issues with the Oline. Is he still just to slow coming out his stance which seemed to be the issue when he was a freshman?

Where are these two?

Shelvin is behind 2 very good players who have more experience than him.

Campbell just never panned out. It’s not like we’re out there starting walk on.

Guys that are so big physically can typically get by in HS just by shear size and weight

Once you get to this level if you don’t have the talent or technique to play the OL/DL then you can get buried

years. Shelvin is behind two really good players in Fehoko and Alexander. But Alexander has really bad knees which limits his PT (or he would probably be starting). Just Thought Shelvin would be in the rotation.

Then when Brumfield goes down true freshman Hines goes in instead of a guy who has been in the program 3 years. Not saying you play the guy with most senority just that Campbell, after 3 years, still wasn't good enough to beat out a true freshman?

If he was, he would be playing. True freshman or not, Hines is a stud and physically looks ready now.

I don’t know if Campbell will pan out or not. At this things are leaning toward the later. But it sure didn’t help that he injured a ankle I thinkin the spring of 2017 and the LSU medical misdiagnosed it even after he told them it wasn’t getting better. By the time they found the problem and he had surgery they were several games in the 2017 season. That is why he redshirted last year. While all of this is going on others are getting reps and passing him up.

Fehoko is solid and I don’t think we really need a third NT in the rotation.

I thiught We would see more of both but it is what it is.

I agree On Campbell but it happens. Jones was solid. They really like him, and honestly if Campbell was working st RG and Hines LG that could be the only difference.

Not every guy knows all 5 assignments.

Shelvin will be fine. He played a lot against Southeastern and will likely play a lot against Louisiana Tech, plus he's behind Fekoho and Alexander. Idk about Campbell. Just isn't panning out I guess.

yep players on the line are the most difficult to evaluate in high school because of this. They're always going to dominate smaller players in high school, and if they're big and athletic, it's really hard to predict if that will translate in college.

It doesn't matter how many years you've been at LSU the best players will play! This is not Les Miles team anymore

Yes, but Fenoko would be a fabulous DT, with Rougaroo at NT.

I spoke to a ND high school bigshot yesterday and Shelvin's name came up. He said none of this is surprising to him because shelvin was overly lazy while at ND, in every way from weight room, to practice, to games.

I'm not bashing Shelvin, but when I hear stuff like that and then hear how this staff cant get him to get his weight down..it seems to fit the rumors that his dedication may not be what they would like. On top of that, as stated, hes behind a couple of good ones.

They dont trust Shelvin yet, simple as that. That's why he only played at the end of the SELA game, it's why they moved Fehoko over to NT from DE to help out with Alexander who has a tough time staying healthy and playing a lot of snaps.

I think if they start to trust Shelvin a little more, Alexander starts at nose with Fehoko going back to a more natural role at DE.

Campbell I was told only can play RG, which they've been very steady at with Lewis replacing Ingram. When Bumfield got hurt they turned to Hines because Campbell doesn't play left side...not sure how true that is, but it's what I heard.

I can't believe this fallacy endures. I can probably name a player at every single position that Les Miles named a starter as either a true freshman or redshirt freshman.

Coach Orgeron gave a lot of praise to Shelvin in the spring .Sometimes when you tell a person they're improving they think they've arrived...
