the proposal of adding a 10th full-time assistant coach

This is just a committee composed of ADs and coaches voting to push forward a proposal to add an additional coach. Is there any link/evidence that this has actually been approved by the actual governing body. This is something I'm sure would have to be approved by a vote of the membership, i.e. the member university presidents.

Man you're truly obsessed with me aren't you? It's pretty sad at this point. Why on earth would i want to be on a Bama board?

Was that actually approved? I saw in the article it said if and when it is approved and that article was from October. Hopefully it did get approved to resolve this issue.

I tried searching for the current limit oer ncaa regulations but i kept getting documents from 2010 stating 9 was the max. Would you share the updated regulations please.

As long as we stay 1 coach short, I believe that allows the HC to make additional visits in place of the missing coach. He's probably holding out on purpose so he can personally make more visits.

One of the most respected DL coaches around? Lord Saban thought he was good enough to coach DL, why don't you?

Because hes 76 years old. This gives new meaning to "experienced veteran." I have nothing against him, just wondering with our new "coordinator-focused" coaching staff situation why we didn't go after more youthful, current and adaptable talent to fill this role. I guess with Coach O having great D-Line experience, it will work out.

I was hoping they were waiting until the KC Chiefs run was done so they could hire ST Coach Tobe. Here he was in reviewing to the Denver job so prolly means he is out.

It's going to be for one more year. After that I'm sure they'll bring someone younger into the fold.

the man is a coaching legend, both in college and the NFL. he can COACH the defensive line. yes, he's up there in age but he is one the best, if not the best, DL coaches around. and yes, coach O being a D line coach helps him out. have you even noticed our DLine play this year? it has been outstanding. and with the new recruits we are bringing in that position will be great again at LSU.

Considering the time of year, I would have more concern about getting the best ST coach we can than already having him on board. Doubt we will be doing much practicing on special teams before spring practice starts. Actually we could probably actually go through spring practice using the consultant approach. We just need to have the best guy possible before August arrives, although it would help to get him in as early as possible. But the quality of the hire outweighs the need to do asap at this particular point.

Dissing Pete Jenkins as a DL coach isn't even worthy of comment. Obvious attempt to troll.

With Jenkins I would say there is nobody better man to coach anybody that is called to consult from the NFL to college is a man you want coaching your guys. I understand the age thing and probably only going to be here a year do to age. If I'm The CEO go get a young top notch dL/recruiting line coach. Shadow staff Jenkins which means he basically the dL coach that doesn't have to recruit ala Bama Shadow staff style. And be done with it the young DL coach can learn from Jenkins and he can handle the riggers of the recruiting trail. That save on the wear and tear on Jenkins and would be the best case for LSU.

Jenkins is one of the greats. Anyone who complains about us having him needs to read up on his bio. He's one of the GOATs. We're very lucky to have him.

Agree. Hate to be PC, but,I think a lot of posters on this board are "ageist". Can't believe how many felt Jimbo Fisher was too old when we were looking for a HC and wanted to gamble with PJ Fleck. College football players aren't looking for their coaches to be peers, having some skins on the wall is what impresses them. Pete Jenkins has a national rep, as long as he can do the job we should be happy to have him.

Ensminger is a HUGE reason that kid is now at LSU

That's my understanding as well from prior discussions w/ local folks who had info on Devin's recruitment far beyond what they read on the internet. After the results we saw in this season's offensive improvement w/ Ensminger as interim OC, I think it's time for everyone to quit crapping on Steve Ensminger. His loyalty to LSU and it's football program is beyond question.
