Whatever happened to Clifton Garrett?

He went JUCO, then the trail is lost. It appears as if he signed with UAB two years ago when they restarted their program but never arrived. Anybody have some insight?

To my knowledge he's not even playing football anymore

He transferred to Arkansas State I believe or some small juco school and just went bust. Crazy how he was ranked #1 at his position and did zero

I rememeber his scouting report after one of the big AA games, and you could sense he was overrated. maybe not THAT bad like he is now, but you could read in between the lines he wasn't a 5*

I feel bad for the kid, his Twitter still says former LSU linebacker.

Yeah he was probably a good dude, I remember he was having issues with the heat as well.

He proved how bad recruiting rankings can be. #1 at his position and proved to be worth 0 stars.

Yeah, seems like he still supports LSU. Posts something every once in awhile regarding the tigers.

How did he get to even be a 5 star?

LSU had such bad luck from 2012 on. So many transfers, dudes kicked off the team etc.

quote:I will not disagree with your reasoning because this is the truth of how it is in hindsight... But damn, Clifton could have been such a good player. He had everything it takes, but OBVIOUSLY he couldn't handle getting himself in position to succeed. Id bet my life savings that he wasn't mentally tough enough to handle it considering how is career has gone. What I'm getting at is that high school rankings are based on potential more times than not. And Clifton was worth a 5* from what was seen on tape. He just flopped, unfortunately.

Star ratings are based on physical attributes and raw skill.
Th e intangibles separate great players from average, however

His h.s. recruiting videos were pretty badass as I recall. I fully expected him to be a stud at LB....which was exciting bc we were hurting there at the time. I was wrong.

The heat and humidity down here really got to him. I also wonder if his heart was really into football. He struck me as being a low-key, all-around nice guy.

Great measurables and he looked great in high school. Just never translated to higher competition.
