I think his spirit was broken when the Andrew Hatch thing backfired. LSU can keep throwing raises at him but it doesn't look like that's healing his wounds.

i think there's a good chance the reason the crowton/miles show will be back in tiger stadium are the contracts they have.if crowtons "spirit" was broken from hatch's failure, then we should have eaten his contract at that very point. instead, he's still here, and there's no reason to expect a different mindset from him. well, maybe there is the lingering thought he may be run out of town on a rail f we're still ranked 112th after the upcoming season. maybe the real reason we hired gonzalez is that he is an offensive coordinator in waiting , ala the tx situation. an inexperienced o-line, to me a tough scheldule despite fla's inexperienced team and their coaching personnel in doubt, and some of the same culprits from last years miserable offensive showing make me doubt success is in the immediate future. let's hope things get better. the heat will be felt this time around, regardless of the $ involved in a change

LSU beat Alabama 41-34
where LSU was trailing 20-17 at half, and game was ended by the defense not the offense really?
scoring 41 points against a "saban d" isn't impressive because we trailed at halftime and our defense gave up 34 points?

Well when people see him calling the same shitty plays this year, what are they going to say then?

The secret playbook does not exist.

Very simple, improved o-line and qb play results in a great offense for gary crowton.

A good o-line and QB make any OC look good. Why is it that other offensive coordinators can at least have a decent offense with young QBs and medicre o-lines? Teams like Miami and Oklahoma were in a similiar situation as us last year but had much better offenses.

Do those teams compete in the SEC? I think that matters.

[quote]First off, the option to the short side of the field needs to die.

Second thing, we need an o-line. That would create some semblance of a run game which in turn will help Jefferson.

Finally, Crowton's situational playcalling needs to improve. See final series in Ole Miss and Penn State games.

postscript: a miracle

They play against competition of equal talent, many times more, and they put up better stats thatn LSU. It's all relavent and speaks volumes as tt our futility...it's alarming for those who think differently

Wuh? Quit posting at Tigerland before a FB player whups your arse. No Tulane does not play against the same caliber or Tech. We,however, do play down to our competition on occasions.

no more debate needs to take place regarding LSU's offensive production except regardint the O line.

LSU needs a productive offensive line. Guys who are technically sound and want to ATTACK their opponent.

The QB, RB and WR spots will take care of themselves.

It starts with the O-Line. Until that is fixed, there isnt an O-Coord in the country that can help LSU.

we may never see another offense as good as that 07 year.
a legit duel threat qb.
great athletes at wr/te.
strong offensive line.
a smart, a power, and a speed rb. plus a couple other playmakers.
could line up in 4 wide or a two tight end i or anything inbetween and could run it effectively.

if we score around 28 points a game in the sec, we'll win 10 to 11 games next year. too bad it probably wont be enough to keep gary's job, but he'll be alright. dude's good. only went from 28 to around 24 points a game in the sec last year, not that big of a drop. dont get caught up in yard statistics. points scored is what matters. in my opinion.

Crowton has talent and skills to run good offenses. This is a pivotal year in his career. I think he and Les with new blood and ideas from Frank, Gonzo, and Ensminger is going to put some spark and imagination into our scheme. I'm frustrated with his last 2 years, but the guy didn't go stupid over night.

poor comparison, those two teams had worse season's than lsu. the acc was pathetic. OU was hardly a juggernaut.

with that said, i believe they both had better o-lines. qb play was about equal. they did face a lot weaker competition. considering south carolina beat clemson and uga beat ga tech, who both played in the acc championship game, that tells you everything you need to know.

when ou faced a quality defense like texas, they didn't score much.

it's an apples and oranges comparison.

I think he means that they play against teams of the same caliber talent that they have, just like LSU plays against teams of the same caliber talent that we have. And they do better than we do.
