re: What will it take to get LSU out of this funk

It's just not our year. Losing so many defensive players hurt us just like everyone predicted. The offense, despite regressing some, is still miles ahead of what we are used to at LSU. 2015 baby. Anthony Jennings, speedy noil, and fournette going to destroy everyone.

I want to see Les Miles with a Saban intensity. Kick arse nationally in recruiting without the recruiting holes at key positions. I want to see miles go off on himself and coaches and even players just like he did to the reporter two weeks ago.
Hopefully not because they would be looking at each other asking "What did he just say?"

the best way to get out of the funk is to start at the top but that wont happen. So i will tell you the logical way we do this. We all but clean house on position coaches. Id keep frank wilson because he is the most valuable coach on the staff. Miles needs to turn over offensive hires to cam. Cam is our oc let him pick the oline, tightend coach and wr coach. Id be fine with keeping henry and wilson and replacing stud and ensminger with some new blood.
On the defensive side it would be best if chief hung it up but i doubt that happens so we have to go ahead and replace either brick or raymond. im actually leaning to brick here because the dline is about as soft as they come.
id really like a young and up coming dc and let him pick the position coaches but i doubt we would see that unless chief is just tired and ready to go.
finally i know moffit is a gold calf here but it might be time to consider a change. These teams aren't the early 2000 teams that get stronger as the game and season goes on. before 11 alot of people started questioning why our talent was out of shape but in 11 we looked like a vintage 03 team on d and in our conditioning. We either need to employ the 11 workout since it worked so well or maybe its time to go younger and hungrier s and c coach.
in short only upsetting bama will fix any in season funk, to fix the funk in the program we need new younger blood. We have formed a country club attitude around our program. we need that one coach that lights the fire for the team and in turn pushes players to become leaders. we are lacking vocal leaders on this team and it starts at the top.

yes it sucks to be me because i dont see it as a big deal to beat a fcs team by 32 points. I should get high like you and act like beating a fcs team is the same as beating auburn by 32

Beating Alabama would be a start.

its the way to get out of the inseason funk beat bama and a&m
I still think we need some new blood in the program as far as assistant coaches. we are lacking fire and leadership this year

A game where we get the offense going and get like 600 or more yards of offense, get a second runner over 100 yards a game. And a defensive performance where they don't give up a TD, and then get a good bit of time for some new defenders. A goal line stand would be nice. All the fans will be happy f we can do something like that.

Get a new fanbase that understands football.

Here's what I understand.
Alabama blows people away.
LSU plays however the other team dictates.... Most time we win, but we sometimes lose.
When we shouldn't.
That's a fact, you should go ahead and DWI.

You can forget about this team putting together a game like that.

Well that knife cuts both ways now doesn't it?

Honestly, the funk is as much on players as coaching. Corey Raymond straight sucks as a DB coach and it's showing.
Chavis' LBer coaching has been extremely overrated over the years, and his scheme is easy to figure out.
Add that in to a physically weak defensive line, and you've got something that's going to take more than 2 weeks to fix.

I'm all for getting our d line hooked on roids right about now.

Georgia was a top 3 team until they had injuries to like an entire starting 11.
Georgia was not a top 3 team at any point this season. They had a great offense, but their defense was and still remains horrible. The fact that LSU's defense is on par with theirs shows UGA was never a top 3 team.

We should've had a bye week BEFORE Ole Miss.
Only option would've been moving one of our first 3 games back. The SEC schedule is why we have two late byes.

If SEC officials are going to allow a longer sec schedule, then it needs to look out for and respect the health and well being of the players and allow for byes to occur when needed.
