I have to post a response on this issue. There is no anti-LSU bias in the voting. That's crazy. LSU has won games with strong lines, not with marquee players like Reggie Bush. Our players have taken home plenty of hardware, ala Dorsey. When we get a QB or RB who wins in spite of a mediocre line, then we'll see another Heisman in BR.

P.S. The person who said that Dorsey deserved the Heisman must be living in a cave. You need to take off your blinders and at least make an attempt to appear objective.

Our best player not being a defensive lineman?

Having one RB instead of five?

Having a prolific passer, not a game manager?

But if all those happen, then we don't win championships; so, the heisman doesn't mean squat to me.

Huck the Feisman!

I don't give a rat's pa-tooty!

Just give me more National Championships!

P.S. Anyone who types "MNC" is a fig!

I'm more concerned about the team than the individuals.

More championships please.

As long as LM remains the coach, I think it will have to be a QB.

This is not a knock on Miles. Just that it seems like LM prefers a RB by committee and the fact our state producers a ton of talented RB, so it is doubtful one RB will amass the stats necessary to win the Heisman.

LSU hasn't had a truly Heisman-worthy player since Tommy Casanova. Others were good, Tommy was great.

Uhhh, Jerry Stovall.

There are 4 possibilities for a team like LSU (balanced).

1. Sadly, 2 of our RBs would have to get hurt very early in the season. Then the remaining back would get almost all of the carries and rack up some serious yards and TDs. (Obviously we don't want that to happen.)

2. One QB emerges and does all of the passing. Has a very high QB rating, comp%, TD-INT ratio, AND LSU would have to win the Nat'l Champ. (Somewhat a possibility, but probably not this year.)

3. A WR steps up and has crazy numbers with a lot of TDs, AND LSU wins the NC. (Don't really see it happening, too much talent to not spread it around).

4. Patrick Johnson ends up starting this year, breaks the single season INT record at LSU (taking several back for TDs), and starts returning punts (with a TD or 2). (I actually think this one might be more likely, but not this year. Even though I'm being a ranter for talking this highy about a CB that hasn't played a down yet.)

A weak team with no depth at QB or running back and an 8 win season.

I'd actually rather not have an LSU player win a Heisman Trophy.

JR would have been a really strong contender if he had come back his senior year. RP had the hype to be a contender if he hadn't been an idiot. Shepard could be a contender if he lives up to the hype and is a VY/Vick type of player in college. I think he's the only person with a legit shite either on the current roster or currently committed.

Someone would have to have a MONSTER offensive year, and the Les system isn't condusive to that.

Heisman is most overrated award in all of sports. It is a jinx. I am betting everything I have on the team that has the Heisman winner to lose their bowl game.

Skillz on NCAA 09

Seriously though, we might have had one last year...J-Russell could have beaten out Tebow if his progression he showed at the end of 06 continued.

And we have a possible candidate now that won't get it due to being watered down by RB by committee (not that there is anything wrong with that).

At the end of the day, it boils down to luck just like getting a title does.

Why the hell not? You'd get free TJ Ribs and a place to sleep for free.

Don't be so hasty.

Russell Shephard...could be a Heisman contender when he enters junior or senior year.

And I respect that. But could we PLEASE not make such comments while the dude is in his junior year of HIGH SCHOOL?

Far too much talent at LSU for us to be dependent on any one player.

Not really a huge concern considering Heisman winners in the recent past haven't played for the best team in football. I'd rather have the best team in CFB than a Heisman winner on it.
