USC in Tiger Stadium. That was the best. Have never seen the place like that again. Sold my seats for $300 a piece and sat on my ID.

Gotta be the 80's. That decade was just non-stop insanity from start to finish. Bernie Moore trophies. Some of the most exciting moments in all 3 major sports. Track dominance. Dekes getting out of control. Murphy's in full effect. Chris Jackson, Tommy Hodson, Joey Belle, Ben McDonald, Jose Vargas. Tito Horford, Bobby Knight, Jimmy Swaggart, Bob Brodhead. Just insanity I tell ya...

I can remember in 1985 we had to camp out all weekend to get tickets to the Florida game. It was first come, first serve until the ticket allotment was gone. The line started Friday night and by the time Monday rolled around the line was completely around the stadium. That was a fun weekend. I think this is the main reason they went to tickets during registration the next year.

For me, the 70's because I was there.
Ah, yesss.

Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt

Rudy Macklin had 32 rebounds as a freshman vs Tulane.

You had to be early and had to be athletic to beat the rush. I still remember LSU-Bama 25 rows up on the 50!

Baseball, not so much.
The head baseball coach, Jim Smith, was the equipment manager for the football team. I remember bringing a book to the games and lying down on the bench seats to study during the games. 200-300 people max.

I can't help but be reminded of The Schintzius...

The LSU vs. UK basketball games of the 80's were a big deal too, even if it seemed like LSU always lost and that it was the LSU teams of the 70's that got the rivalry started.

I have everything. I know it front-and-back. There's plenty of bad Dylan.

i would think the 60s were the most interesting all around including music. My vague memories as a kid of football games in the late 60s were everyone dressed up, lots of cigar and cigarette smoke, always at night, louder than now, drunker than now, and a LOT more fights (esp LSU and Ole Miss fans fighting with broken bourbon bottles)

I second that. Who can ever forget that Culture Club had their concert at LSU on Halloween night in 1984.

Yeah, but was it the best decade to go to LSU? You had to be in ROTC back then, and might get your arse drafted. Also, it had to be a little depressing to watch LSU football start slipping behind other SEC teams after 1964 or so, and even the great season of 1969 ended without a bowl game.

If I would have seen it, then I doubt I would ever forget it.

From 69-73 LSU won 9 games each year and won the SEC outright in 1970. The Tigers went to the Orange Bowl in following the 1970 and 1973 seasons.

True, but that's an argument for the 70's decade.

That was my second sophomore year. I remember it like yesterday.
I love going to the PMAC in 80-81 though while I was in high school. We (my dad and I)would actually wait until after the game started then get in for student ticket prices. it was insane. We went t almost every dame that year. even went to the superdome to the game before the final four. Too bad Rudy got hurt.

Students at LSU are treated so differently from when we are there. The "nanny state" has completely infiltrated LSU as well as most schools and they are looked upon as being older children as opposed to being adults as we were. I'm so glad we didn't have all those ridiculous rules at LSU when we were there. Fridays beers in the Union, Murphy's, The Bengal, Chi Chi's, Fred's, South Seas, Tiger Band Parties, Tiger Band Road trips with ice chests full of beer on the busses, etc.

Yep, Ben Wynne was the final nail in the coffin, with the help of Chancellor Jenkins, Kathy Marcel, the ABC board, and the Robert Wood Johnson foundation.

Man, South Seas was insane along with Jam Jam. Lambda Chi used to have an annual "Alcohol Poisoning Party." That would never pass these days.

The best decade to have been at LSU was the decade when you were in your teens and twenties, or basically any decade that you got to go there. I never went to LSU. I went to UNO (LSUNO back then in 1965). If I got to go there today, would consider the decade of 2010, my best decade.
