Do it like Nebraska basketball! So nice!! Selling naming rights! They built that arena for around 200 million it is fine!! Naming right are a huge way to help pay for the arena and then start hosting concerts!! Has so much potential to make money and be a premier area of campus. Do away with the road between the stadium and pmac and connect it with an awesome team store and tie in the Mike the Tiger habitat. Could be amazing area so the band could still walk through on game days.

The seating is my only complaint with lack of leg room.

I think it needs to be torn down and replaced with a smaller, more intimate arena. We need the building to help facilitate the atmosphere.

Why would you want to reduce seating for gymnastics and women's basketball and men's basketball when they are rolling? Its stupid to reduce seating by 3,000 fans just to get an " intimate " setting. The Deaf Dome creates a distinct advantage for LSU.

Honestly don’t get the uproar about the PMAC. Went to the South Carolina LSU basketball game and the atmosphere was amazing. Seats were comfortable, view of court was great, the jumbo tron is state of the art, had no problem getting food and drink. Bathroom line was long at halftime but moved decently. I mean I guess it’s old and that’s why people bitch. But i don’t think it needs to be torn down. Probably just renovated. There are way more things on campus that we need more.
You'll find that opinion is held mostly by people who never/rarely attend games there.
The exterior is an outdated relic of the early 70's style. A style that was "modern" at the time, but, like many things from the 70's (El Dorado's, leisure suits, full bushes, etc). But is that enough for a full teardown? Probably not.
There really isn't a bad seat in the house in terms of viewing the game and it's easy to navigate. The scoreboard/infobard is modern. The acoustics are fine. The ONLY thing preventing it from being a great environment is a winning (men's) team. How do we know that? Because in the 80's that place was rocking and one of the tougher arenas for an opponent to play in. Go watch a gym meet on a Friday night. It's rocking.
Building a new arena is just a short-term dopamine hit without a quality product to display in it. Ole Miss built a great new arena. After the novelty wore off fans stopped showing up because the basketball still sucked. Auburn did the same thing. But it's crazy not simply because it is a nice arena. It's because Pearl has them as legitimate contender most years out.
The PMAC is not the best basketball arena in the country. Far from it. And if LSU decided to replace it I wouldn't be heartbroken. But those thinking building a new arena will somehow magically translate into a great men's basketball program are fools. The arena has no effect on that.

Why is this necessary? You can't just sit for two hours and enjoy the fricking game . Stay home on your plush naugahyde sofa if you aren't happy. These amenities you mentioned would do nothing for the average fan on a limited budget.
Got to keep up with the Jones’s
PMAC isn’t terrible but it’s time for an up-to-date arena.

Ole Miss arena is amazing. I hate when they have such nicer things than we do.

Why spend the money when most of will just bitch like you all do about the Box and it is 15 years old.
Presumably they wouldn’t take the cheapest route possible and build a facility that was obsolete and lacking modern amenities from the second it was completed.
“Well you’ll all just complain when they do it cheaply” is a weird take.

Exactly.
The new Box is fine. It's better than 99% of all college baseball facilities. But LSU took the time and expense to build a new stadium...and built the most generic, boring stadium, they could think of....complete with 50% of the seating still being high school-esque aluminum bleachers.
I agree. If the plan is just to build a newer version of the PMAC, then just keep what you have.

It needs to be rectangular in shape, which gets the fans closer to the court, and generally better viewing.

That can sometimes create some odd viewing angles. Plus, the fans are pretty close as is. Below is a photo from a few years ago. LSU now has a row of courtside seats opposite the benches.
The baseline seats are a little bit farther away than the sideline seats because of the circular set up. But that could easily be fixed. Plus, the students don't show up anyway. So what difference does it make if the 30 that do are a few feet closer to the baseline?

I'm probably in the minority in thinking that the PMAC needs a facelift not a full rebuild, similar to what the Mccamish Pavilion at Georgia Tech got. It was very similar to the PMAC with the odd circular seating layout, outdated facade, and poor concourse area. It cost Georgia Tech around $45 million to do it, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than a full rebuild (Baylor just built their new stadium for $213 million) and looks fantastic and gives the building a modern feel
