Watson had probably 4 or 5 absolute WTF moments.
His play in CF was not at all on par with what we were used to, even compared to himself last year.

Tennessee commit Aaron Ashby to the Brewers.

He's got a full scholarship at Tennessee if he passes up the draft.

ETA: They really want him at Tenn. He's a fricking stud.

Good Lord. A full scholarship to a JUCO pitcher?

I can see Hess staying.
I think he's more likely than Watson at this point. He had a really bad year and there are no shortage of 92 mph righties with a curve they can't control.

Yeah, it was money committed to other guys they're expecting to lose to the draft. And it would only be a one year thing.

If Hess returns to his 2017 CWS form as a closer, I could absolutely see him taking the Drew Storen route and ending up in someone's MLB bullpen a year later.

I think Dup should get any money he can. He'll get pennies next year.

I always assumed he was a 4yr player, so i was kind of shocked to hear people say he is gone for sure this year.

He's a great college player but he just doesn't have a great professional profile. He has like 20 grade power. His slap approach is just not something you see in the pros anymore. While he is fast, he isn't in that tier of guys like Billy Hamilton, Jarrod Dyson or even Andrew Stevenson.

Good kid. I think he'd eventually regret passing up a 4th year to lead this program.

Pretty interesting that Hess or Watson haven’t been drafted. Could be a potential return in the works. Would give us a lot of ammunition next season.

We would really only be replacing a 1B and a Catcher (assuming the Feduccia rumors are true). And it's not like we had a locked in 1B either.

And we have JUCO guys coming in (and potentially a big time freshman) that cover all of that.

I had read that next year's class would not be as rich in power pitching as this years.

That's the wildcard. Eventually, he has to face reality because he will either get drafted and take money way under what he wants or he's going to come back and be a closer. I can't see PM giving him another starting spot. This year was an easy decision with all of the injuries and Gilbert's falloff. Next year, we will be good enough to make a run and PM isn't going to waste time letting him struggle through starts again.

I think what is attractive about Duplantis is how polished of a player he is already. He plays great defense and has an adequate arm for LF at the next level. He also is a very smart player. No, he's not going to wow you with power numbers, but he can hit for extra bases more than he's given credit for. They may not be in the homerun variety, but he does have gap power and plus speed to steal bases and be aggressive on the base paths. He's about as consistent a player as we've had here. I could easily see him getting drafted in the first 10-15 rounds, maybe higher.

That said, I do see him as a guy that may come back for his senior year regardless and i hope he does.

Dodgers just took a Lamar commit.

Will Davis could have used him. They didn't do so great this season.

Completely agree with you. I think it is riding on how badly he wants money. He will get a little this year. He'll get none next year. I don't know his family's financial situation, nor do I know how badly he wants a degree.

The degree angle means nothing. Lots of guys come back during the offseason and finish theirs. Mahtook, Nola, etc.
