Perhaps you would have preferred the Independence Bowl or maybe the one in Montgomery.

Houston is the BBQ capital of the world. Surrounded by great BBQ joints. Depending on how long you're in town far I'd suggest hitting up 2 or 3.
Can head south off I-10 in Mont Belvieu on TX 146 and drive over the Baytown Bridge (beautiful bridge BTW) and admire the industrial complex. It's impressive.
Take a drive to Galveston and visit the site of the Balinese. Take the ferry across to Bolivar - can park and walk-on for free. Nice views at sunset.
FTR, I bet Houston has more distribution center docking bays than anywhere in the USA.

Kemah Boardwalk is wonderful especially for families.
Johnson Space Center…obviously cool for a family outing. Tell my ex to go f herself. ;)
Houston Botanic Garden. They have the awesome Chinese lantern display right now. That’s a home run for families.
Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park. Just really, really cool and free.
Houston Zoo
Many world class museums. Just take your pick.
Check out the crazy beer can house. Why not?
McGovern Centennial Gardens
Tons to do in Houston!
Take a ride down to Galveston and hit Moody Gardens.

It's a late night game. Just drive over the day of, check into the hotel, have an early dinner, go to the game, then drive home the next morning. You don't have to find much else to do. This is why they sent LSU to Houston in the first place -- short trip.

Go to Belaire Blvd. Be overwhelmed with the smokin blonde asian women and the 1000x places serving pho.

Take a scenic drive around the loops. If you want to change lanes don’t dare put your blinkers on,
