Miles is 42-11 n 4 years at LSU. In most those losses either came from last min games or OT losses(Auburn gate, both overtime losses last year to Kentucky and Arkansas, last years OT loss to Alabama and last years Arkansas game, and there may be more). I think Les has already proved his ability and this past recruiting class was just like the icing on a cake..There are things though that can prevent us from winning. Having to fix our schedule because of Hurricanes really hurts teams. Injuries can be a very big problem, look at Georgia last season. What i fear most though is inconsistency. We return a lot of players from a defense that bleeded points last season, and return a offense who sometimes struggled to find the endzone..and losing Colt on special teams is a huge lost IMO as well.

not a big Gary Danielson fan myself...though it seems he tamed down his hatred for LSU a little this past season as opposed to the Championship season of 07

we were invincible on ABC for a time and in 2008 couldn't buy a win...

i'll never forget danielson's comment regarding dorsey in the auburn game... that the coaches should sit him and save him for the NFL...

can you imagine what danielson's wants to say when urban is running the sixth quarterback draw of the first quarter with tebow?

Case left after the 1995 season.

Reese wasn't hired by Joe Mackovic.

Steve Bernstein coached DB's after Reese left.

Then Joe Cullen came in about the 1999 season

The program was an absolute disater long before DiNardo. Gerry didn't turn it into a disaster. Apparently you missed years 3 and 4 of the Archer regime and the following 4 under Hudson. At least DiNardo had a few good years before letting it all go South, mainly due to some absolutely horrendous assistant coaching hires. Anybody remember the scenario? DiNardo gets 10 wins in year one and then loses secondary coach Ron Case to join Mack Browns staff at North Carolina and Carl Reese to be John Mackovic's DC at Texas. In comes Ole "Drop Linebacker" Lou to be DC and Ed "Screamer" Cullen to coach DL.
I honestly don't remember who took over for Case in the secondary. Then there was some nonsense in there about not having an Offensive Coordinator or combining the OC/Wide Receiver coach into one position or some kind of BS.

Yeah, GD had his problems all right, but didn't start it all. Mike and Curley did that.....

I didn't say I disagreed with any of this. In the context of the conversation we were having, I simply stated that in the condition the program was in when Gerry DiNardo left, players like Michael Clayton, Marcus Spears, Marquise Hill, etc., were not going to sign with LSU. He had lost the team, and the program was pretty much dead in the water as long as he continued to be employed.

I didn't say he was the first to oversee the program in that state. Let me clarify- Gerry DiNardo allowed it to descend BACK into that state. Better?

They cannot possibly be any worse than last year. Even the first game of the season will be an improvement.

Don't worry. Urban and Tebow will add one more accomplishment to their epic careers this season - a blowout win in Tiger Stadium. Just you wait.

- I wonder how could they be any worse than last year. But I think the first point above is my concern as well. They will be better. But if Chavis' defenses aren't noticeably improved, Les is going to look really bad for hiring a second inept DC. Apart from the Malleveto blunder, Les has hired great assistants. Really hope he got this one right.
- If TV moves our home games to day time.

Sigh, Miles is getting the same players that Saban would have gotten if he were still here. Perhaps the classes are even stronger that when Saban was here.
