It's not worth very much. How many other coaches did you see in the stands as well? He was a highly touted recruit, so what? I would hope that LSU's sitting head coach would at least try to recruit a blue chip athlete in the Baton Rouge area.
Clayton signed with LSU two years after DiNardo was fired, and was not going to come here if DiNardo was coach. He said as much in the 2003 NC celebration. More specifically, he said he decided his senior year of high school (Saban's first year at LSU), during the 2000 Tennessee game that he was coming here, despite the pressure of all his family and friends to go to Florida State. Before Saban, LSU was not really the popular place to go for Louisiana recruits being courted by the very best programs. He certainly wouldn't have come here had DiNardo been retained for the 2000 season, and continued the absolute disaster that he turned to program into.

This will be the first year that we truly get a read on the over-all capabilities of Les Miles.
Geeez. A national title still hasn't put this BS to rest!

I guess I could say that Chavis not meeting expectations scares me. But I am not really scared honestly. I think he'll do a great job. I like the hires, the recruiting. Miles is a class act.

I'm scared of having to shite in a Port-a-Potty on campus this season. Oh well, I won't sit, I'll just shite in the urinal. Its not like I've never walked into one like that before.

Yep. Chavis was about as "safe" a hire as possible. Experience, a resume, etc. I think he'll turn out to be a great hire.

Haley should push these kids much harder than Lane did.

I think he wants to see him do it with his own players, and thats why he says overall b/c we have seen by the 07 champ, he can coach and this year coming up we will be able to see how he can coach "his" recruits, so i agree this season and on will judge his coaching and recruiting ability

If there is enough room for Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard on ESPN's front page of their website...

The program was an absolute disater long before DiNardo. Gerry didn't turn it into a disaster. Apparently you missed years 3 and 4 of the Archer regime and the following 4 under Hudson. At least DiNardo had a few good years before letting it all go South, mainly due to some absolutely horrendous assistant coaching hires. Anybody remember the scenario? DiNardo gets 10 wins in year one and then loses secondary coach Ron Case to join Mack Browns staff at North Carolina and Carl Reese to be John Mackovic's DC at Texas. In comes Ole "Drop Linebacker" Lou to be DC and Ed "Screamer" Cullen to coach DL.
I honestly don't remember who took over for Case in the secondary. Then there was some nonsense in there about not having an Offensive Coordinator or combining the OC/Wide Receiver coach into one position or some kind of BS.
Yeah, GD had his problems all right, but didn't start it all. Mike and Curley did that.....

I suggest everybody bombard Alleva with letters and e-mail's about this BS. Better nip it in the bud right now BEFORE the season starts.......

We started a freshman at one of the toughest places to play in the nation against the eventual national champion and only lost by a few t.d.s.
I wonder if that is how teams like ULL and Appy St would justify a 30 point margin of loss to LSU. For the defending national champion, yes, it was embarrassing.

What the hell is an inebrated tiger anyway?
Man, you sure must have been one inebriated SOB when you came up with that username.
